Our Plans Have Changed! Part 1

I'm a small kid. I couldn't help it, it was how I was born! On top of that, I was 11 and hadn't hit puberty yet. I hated to admit it, but I really looked like a girl. In fact, you could probably call me a girl. I only had long blond hair about 2 inches down my shoulders, I only had one friend, who was a girl, and I had only girl family. My father died in a car crash while my mom was pregnant with me. In his honor, I was named after him. Salem. But that's beside the point. I need to get to the story.

I woke up on a warm day, but that was kind of expected, considering it was summer in Los Angeles. I was extremely excited because today was the day I went to camp. I flung myself out of bed but instantly regretted it. My foot plopped right down in some uneaten ice cream from last night.
"Shit..." I muttered. I hopped out of my room and down the hall, trying (unsuccessfully) to keep my foot off the ground.
I then stripped off my pajamas and hopped in the shower. It felt good as the water spread over my body. I couldn't use conditioner because I was already late. I jumped out, dried off and dashed back to my room, almost hitting my half-asleep sister Jackie. After getting into a pair of too small shorts and a red t-shirt, I grabbed my bag that I had packed the night before.

I hauled it out of my room and down the stairs to the kitchen table. I set it down on a chair and pulled a box of Cocoa Krispies out of the cupboard and poured them a bowl. I then reached into the refrigerator and came to the conclusion that we had no milk. (Bad luck remember?) I sighed and set aside the bowl. My mom came down the stairs and looked at me in shock.

"Salem! What are you doing here? Your bus to Camp Janika should be leaving in...2 minutes!"

"What? But my bus leaves at 9:30! My watch clearly states 8:57!" She showed me her watch, and then pointed to the microwave clock, which both said 9:29.

"Shit!" I grabbed my bag and sprinted to the bus stop. I got there as it was pulling away.

"Hey! HEY!" I screamed. But it was to late. I collapsed on the ground, and my too short shorts rid up my butt. I sighed. I had been looking forward to this for so long and now...it was gone. I got up and started walking. I just started thinking about random thoughts, like, if dad was still here, or, if i had a brother.

I had to have been walking for about 20 minutes when I saw a bus. This bus looked exactly like my bus. It even had the same big green letters on the back that said "CAMP." I dashed over to it. Everybody was still boarding. I allowed myself a smile as I walked up the two stairs into the bus and took my seat in the back of the bus. I pulled my ipod out of my pocket and plugged the earbuds in. Soon the bus was on it's way and i was listening to some Black Eyed Peas. The last thing I remember thinking before falling asleep was that I left my bag at the other bus stop.

"Alright, please step this way, that’s right, please file out." Was the voice that woke me up. I drowsily shook myself awake and walked off the big yellow beast. Right away I knew something was wrong. The camp I saw in front of me looked nothing like the one I had seen so many times in the brochure. There was a big lake in the center, and cabins were everywhere. My thoughts were interrupted by thee same voice that woke me up earlier.

"Hello Girls! Welcome to Camp Skyline!" Wait...CAMP SKYLINE? And... hello GIRLS? I looked around at the other campers around me. They were all girls. Just then, something clicked in my head. My best friend Jenny told me she was going to an all girls camp...CAMP SKYLINE! I was in some deep shit now. I wasnt paying attention to what the woman in front of us was saying but suddenly she was looking right at me.

"You! In the Red Shirt and Short Shorts! What's your name?" I suddenly realized everyone was staring at me.

"Oh! Um, Sa-" I started to say, but stopped myself. "Sam. Sam, or Samantha."

"Well Samantha, are you new here?"

"Yes."

"Then You, please go show her where her cabin is." Through the throng of females I couldn't see who she was looking at, but then, to my horror, Jenny walked out of the crowd, staring right at me. She looked at me for a second then said,

"Sure Natalie, I'm sure we can find it, Isn't that right Sam?"

[-][+][-]

Before I could say a word she had grabbed me by the hand and was leading me away.

"Jenny, I-" I started to say.

"Shut up." She cut me off.

She led me for what seemed to be forever until we finally stopped at what looked to be an abandoned tree house.
"Climb." She ordered. I did as she said, and climbed the rope ladder to the old structure. Once she got up she shoved me against one of the walls.

"God damn it Salem, if this is some kind of perverted joke, I'm gonna be seriously pissed."

"It's not! I swear! It was all a mistake!"

"...Ok, I believe you, tell me what happened." I told her the events that had passed since i woke up this morning.

"Wow. That really sucks."

"Yeah! You're tellin me!" So what should I do?"

"I hate to say this, but you're probably going to have to stay at this cam and become Samantha."

"What? That's insane! I can't be a girl! Why can I just go to...what's her name...Natalie, and sort this out?"

"Because Natalie is one harsh bitch. The last time a boy was caught out here she stripped him naked and tied him to a table. All the girls had to spoon feed him and once a night, someone had to tickle his...plumbing." I shivered at the thought of it, but still, I couldn't be a girl!

"God Jenny...I dont know what to do!" I wailed.

"I know, how about this. You look feminine enough in those shorts, so just spend the night as Sam in those, and we'll sort it out tomorrow, ok?" It was better than nothing.

"Yeah. Sure. Just don't tell anybody ok?" She winced.

"I'm afraid I have to. I’m going to need you to sleep in the cabin I sleep in, so I can protect you, and it’s only fair to tell the other girls there.”

“Yeah…I guess.”

“Plus, you’re gonna need to hide your bag somewhere.”

“Ha, don’t worry about that, remember? I left it at the bus stop?”

“Oh, sorry about that. But don’t worry, we got you covered.” She winked at me.

“We?” I asked, trying to hide my fear. She giggled.

“I’ll introduce you.” And with that she was dragging me by the hand again.

We rushed through the woods for awhile then we finally emerged at the main compound. Looking around I saw all the other girls were dragging their bags to their cabins, and getting reacquainted with old friends. I was nervous to be under so many eyes, trying to pass as something I wasn’t, but if anybody suspected anything, nobody said so.
We soon arrived at the cabin. On a wood plank above the door it said: Cabin #4 . Jenny led me up the stairs. My heartbeat quickened with each step, and soon got to the point where I was sure Jenny could feel it. Then Jenny reached out and flung the door open.

The Cabin was amazing. There was a whole second floor! Well, it was more like a loft, but still. On the first floor there was a fireplace, and a coupe couches, chairs, etc. On the loft there were 3 sets of bunk beds, one to the left, one in the middle, and one on the right.
I peered around. It looks like we were the only one’s here.

“Jenny!” Someone shouted.

I take that back.

A girl with blond hair that was tied back in a pony tail suddenly came rushing down the stairs. She dashed towards us and wrapped Jenny in a hug.

“I missed you so much Jen!” She bubbled.

“Yeah, you two Cassidy.” Jenny giggled. After the girl Cassidy had calmed down, she looked towards me.

“Is this the new girl? Hi! I’m Cassidy! Who are you?”

“S-Samantha, or Sam.”

“Well Sam, Welcome to The Secret Society of Cabin 4!” She giggled.

“Uh, Cass, there’s something we need to tell you and the other girls.” Jenny said, ,giving me a nervous glance.

“Sure! Spill it! Wait…are you guys…DATING? WOW Jenny! I didn’t know you were lesbian! Oh! Not that there’s anything wrong with that! Actually, the aunt of my 2nd cousin was a lesbian, so uh yeah…” She trailed off.

“No Cassidy!” Jenny scolded, blushing fiercely.

“Oh thank god! Not that there’s anything wrong with being…”
“Don’t start going off on a tangent Cassidy, I’ll tell you what I mean when all the other girls get here.”

“Awww, Jenny! You know how much I hate surprises! Can’t you just tell me and Leah right now?”

“Leah’s here?” As if it was on cue, a toilet flushed, and after a few seconds a girl with shoulder length brown hair and pink streaks stepped out of the bathroom.

“Hey Jenny, hey new girl.” She grunted, then she went upstairs and crawled in a bed. Jenny giggled.

“Don’t worry, she grows on you.” I tried to smile, but I just couldn’t force it.

“Here, Sam, I’ll go show you your bed.”

“Thanks Jen.” She led me upstairs and pointed to the upper bunk on the right side. There were 2 pillows and a pink sleeping bag.
“Great.” I muttered.

“Where are your bags Sam?” asked Cassidy.

“I uh, kinda left the at home.” I said.

“Awwww, that suuucks!”

“Yeah, you’re telling me.”

“So all you’ve got is what you’re wearing?”

“Yep. Plus my ipod, but that won’t help.”

“Well we can all lend you some clothes, right Leah?”

“Go screw yourself, I’m trying to sleep. Let that princess do whatever she wants.”

“Oh don’t be a meanie poo!” Cassidy said. “Don’t worry, we’ll help you out!”

“Thanks Cassidy.”

“Call me Cass."

[-][+][-]

When the night was over, I had met the other 2 girls of Cabin #4. There was Skala, an Asian girl who loved music and sang all the time, and there was Mae, who was a short, energetic, and just an all around fun girl. And my secret had yet to come out.
The lights out bell had just rang, and I was crawling into my sleeping bag, when I heard Jenny say,
“Girls, can I have a word with you downstairs?” I knew I was screwed. I heard them mumbling downstairs, and that was what I fell asleep to.

Welcome to TSBC.

Thanks for the warnings about where the story will go. I am not too big on humiliation stories, so I will tread carefully.

I recognise the trade-mark editing. I could be wrong, but,,,,,

Nice little tale so far. A couple questions though

Every time I went to camp or back from it -- Scouts mostly-- or on school and YMCA field trips the group leader ALWAYS had a clip board with our names and did a check-off of each and every one of us to see if we were missing anyone or had a *surplus* for that matter. Often walked the bus to make sure. Sometimes we even had buddies or sub groups we had to stick to.

But then this whole morning was a comedy of errors so I'll buy the premise. Oh most modern day camps are only a week or two as the summer and month long ones aren't that popular any more. Too many conflicting activities for kids these days and camp is expense what with liability insurance and everything else.

And who is Jenny? The one friend he had, the female friend? Or is she his older sister name Jenny and misspelled as Jackie in the opening scene.

I hope the girls are nice to the poor kid. It's not like he's some pervert, just small for his age and rather badly disorganized.

Mom didn't think to wonder why he hadn't left for the bus and he's only 11? Mom must have been very busy herself not to wake him or drive him to the bus. But then maybe he has a habit of being sloppy and she wanted him to see there are consequences. At least is seams an upscale camp he's ended up in. Um, won't mom get a bit worried in a while when his camp calls and says he never made it?

Nice start.

P.S. some proofing flaws but nothing that got in the way of enjoying the tale. You should see my early drafts. Okay the posted stuff isn't much better but that's the content and not my proofers faults!

This part a bit over the top

"Because Natalie is one harsh bitch. The last time a boy was caught out here she stripped him naked and tied him to a table. All the girls had to spoon feed him and once a night, someone had to tickle his...plumbing."

I felt this part was a bit over the top as if such an incident happened at a camp, it would bound to come out and Natalie would be sitting in a prison. There is no way a camp counsellor could kidnap a boy, forced imprisonment, and sexually abuse him, without facing some serious criminal charges. Even if not sent to prison, at the least she would no longer be a camp counsellor.

Perhaps some other example could be used as to why Salem could not just go to the counsellor and explain the situation.

I wondered about that too, Kimberly

I assumed it was either a campers tall tale and or was intended to scare him a bit in a teasing way, nothing nasty. I mean if an adult really did that to a child it would be punishable as sexual assault and the girls would be accessories to it.

Sounded to me like 'the grounds keeper always keeps his shed locked up tight because that's where he dismembers his victims then buries the remains. Muah hah hah!' she said in a low voice, her flashlight shining up from below her face giving her an unworldly look in the total darkness of the north woods camp.

Oooh a potential Burwell-Litton contest entry!

I wonder is this girl who recognized him a girl from his school, a typo and she's his older sister or is she his one friend back at home?

The BIG Q is where in the *broad* -- snicker -- spectrum of male to female transformations is this tale heading? Will this be a loving *make over * to hide him from ridicule so he and his cabin mates can have a fun filled camp experience, a teasing but ultimately no harm no foul situation or will one of more of the girls be hurtful and cruel?

So far teasing but harmless to well meaning, sweet seems where this is heading.

Good start!

I love the camp stories!! I remember camp very well, cabin named Sequoia. The reason also made me cringe, but meh. It would have scared me to do the same thing. I just assumed Jenny was spilling camp rumor, and well camp rumor at ours said there were snipe in the woods. :)

Good start.

Hope to read more soon.

Good luck with the story Robin.
