Well, I had my one day shift today, and it was wonderful. I had been told I would spend the day in the back to prevent any issue with dressing female while wearing a male name tag. So I decided to wear a skirt and heels. But they forget to tell my new supervisor, so after I did some computer learning he sent me to the garden department. I'm glad he did, because I actually enjoyed it. Best of all, one lady was looking for something, and her older companion saw me, and said to her in my hearing, "I bet this young woman can help us." I could have kissed him.

How others see me
Thanks for the bog. Knowing how we you are doing is a Being.

Please do leave the seat down:)
And also---potty humor aside (couldn't resist)---hope most of your shifts at Wally World
go like this 1st one, Dorothy.

I think ...
... I'd just be grateful for the 'young'. The bus driver today actually checked my free bus pass (given to all over 60s in the UK). I was delighted as I'm the wrong side of 70. The beard might have made 'woman' unlikely LOL.
Glad it all worked out for you.

shopping trip
This reminds of me a shopping trip I had at a Southern Comfort Conference planning meeting this past January and went shopping in Atlanta and everybody called me miss and mam which was so nice. Guys even held doors open for me which was great. Cannot wait till this years conference in September 20-26.

I never get tired of hearing
I never get tired of hearing "Miss", "Ma'am", or "Ladies" :-) Glad your new job's working out :-)
Sincerest Congratulations
I know how hard you have worked to reach this moment. It's funny how so much hard work it takes to get us to a state where we get to do something so mundane but such is the nature of transition. I remember my first job and it was nerve wracking going through the whole getting references and finding a job without killing my career sort of thing as I transitioned between jobs. So congrats hon!

Glad
It's good this seems to be working out but I really don't understand the name tag thing. How can they accept Dorothy yet disallow an AKA name tag simply because the legalities are not in place. It's hardly a fraud or deceit thing. Surely some sort of 'statement of intent' would cover any documentary irregularities or whatever the reasoning is. It seems discriminatory in a way. I just don't get it.

Congrats Dot.
One small step for you one important step for TG'ism.
It must have put you on cloud nine to be referred to as 'miss'
Well, at least you're back on the 'ladder'
Good luck and much happiness.
Hugs.

So did the young woman help
So did the young woman help them? May all your workdays be spent helping kindly old gentlemen that know a young woman when they see one.

To hear this read in the Scots is pure magic. There's also an analysis of the poem which is a wonderful irony - for those who don't know it.
