Taxonomy upgrade extras:
Well, it's becoming more and more obvious that we need to upgrade to Drupal 6. We've got several Drupal 6 sites now running, Stardust is on 6. So, it's time to upgrade TopShelf.
We're going to do a dummy version first, probably this week and then later, in a week or a month when we're convinced it's going to work, take BCTS down while we do the conversion on live data.
We don't think TopShelf will be down at that point for more than a day or so, and we'll keep the option open to come back up as Drupal 5 if we run into big problems. But if all goes well, we'll have all the data moved over and some nice new features.
More info later.
Hugs,
Erin, Bob and Piper

When Big Closet is down for that time, will you have Big Closet Classic become Big Closet, or activate Big Closet beta?

No promises
Stardust and TGFiction.net will be up but we can't promise to keep BC running while we do this.

Yay! ^__^
There're lots of spiffy toys that are available with Drupal 6. ^__^ *has been doing (some of) her reading, trying to get another site put together* Things that make Admin's lives easier are very good.

I first read this message on Monday 28th Feb 2011. Which one of us is caught in a time warp? ;-)

Words from the future.....
The publish date was moved "in the future" so that this posting would stay at the top of the list for a few days. This was done in hopes that more people would get a chance to see it and not get blindsided by any coming outages.

If you're gonna make the jump…
Why not go all the way? 7 is out and stable, and the site content should convert.
I can't be the only web dev on this board with time to kill who'd help out.
Drupal Maturity
There is no direct upgrade path from 5x to 7x... Doing it "By the book" would require a complete conversion to 6x and then a complete conversion from 6x to 7x... Thats not including the tweaking needed to make the various modules that were moved from external to core operate properly, or the double stack of massaging the data.
There is a method that would require writing a custom module to port the data from 5x to 7x, and a whole lot more work for a one time pay off. But right now, I think Erin just wants to move to something that's newer than 5x, with some of the newer features, and not have to worry about if the 7x modules she needs have hit maturity yet... Heck some of the 6x modules still aren't there.
