Taxonomy upgrade extras:
The BC core software has been upgraded to version 5.7. This should make very little difference in operation of the site but will enable easier future upgrades and will protect against a few exploits that could be attempted on the earlier software (though we have never had such an attempted exploit here). There also a few minor bug fixes, a few of which may cause minor problems. Some of my custom code will have to be tracked down and remodified, like how many comments appear on the front page.

The default categories for new content are no longer correctly set. I'll figure out why soon and fix it.

Default categories appears to be broken for other people also and the guy who maintains the module is saying he can't reproduce the problem so he's doing nothing about it.

I like having the comments on the front page.

more like I know what's going on. It seems

I agree. Seeing the comments on the front page more than anything else gives BCTS its very own character. Unlike most other sites (FM) it gives you a heads up on the good stories as well helps build a sense of community. More cozy maybe?

Looks fine to me
But I'm using the Reverse layout to make BC look like it originally did. Anyway, everything looks much as it did. As for the number of comments, I can't really say, especially as there have been some great stories that are garnering lots of comments. Of course, the more comments you can get on the home page the better, IMHO.
