A few months back I noted that I had just received (that day) a single vote on more than half of my stories. This has happened again. I assume it is a software glitch. Has anyone else received votes on most of their stories today? I'd like to believe that somehow thirty-one of my old stories received votes today, but that's about twenty-nine more than what I normally would receive on any given day.

This happens
I see it from time to time, someone discovers voting and goes back through all their favorite stories or authors and votes for all of them. There's no way a software glitch could cause this because of the way the info is stored.

Also happens
When somebody like me (but it wasn't me) goes back and "tags" (votes) stories I've read before voting was in place. One of those random things, something will remind me of a story I read awhile back, and that will prompt to go back and check all the stories by an author I've enjoyed and vote for the older ones. Just a small way of saying "thank you" to all the great authors on BC.
They know they can survive
I do the same thing
I'm often quite busy, as I edit an online forum for writers, so may miss stories for days and weeks on end, or see one story and be moved to check out the "back list," a task made easier by the Author pages and Story pages going up recently. I'll often read through a series and then decide to vote for the series as a whole, which for me entails using the back shortcut to back out of the story voting for each episode as I go.
I've said this before, but it's obviously more common than one might think it was. A number have people have said, at one time or another, that they try not to read serial chapters until the whole story is finished, so that might cause a similar pattern of votes.
Indeed, it was months and months before I noticed that there was a "Vote" button available at all, so I went back and voted for all the stories I thought I would have voted for had I known a button existed.
Not everyone obeys any particular rule we might imagine holds in all situations.

Author Page and Story Pages
I would strongly urge any author who wants to ensure the widest readership for their stories to create, or ask a site editor to create on your behalf, author and title pages to organise their ouvre in some coherent manner. As Erin pointed out some time ago, the site receives many visits direct from Google, and a new user will have no idea of the depth of the BC virtual catalogue, nor of the fact than any particular author has other works available, unless they see the handy menu provided by the organiser page feature listing them in neat array.
Likewise, the new "Solos" feature, which depends upon a setting the author must choose to make in their story, serves as a wonderful device to "churn" the catalogue, so older stories rise randomly to the surface, and a well-organised author page with story pages to categorise individual threads, is a marketing tool that makes every story accessible as if it were first posted, and in part makes the entire catalogue transparent, at least in glimpses.

i find
when i vote for a story, the count usualy moves up by 2, not one, so I am in effect voting twice.
All authors get two votes

Cool Beans!
I have been known to go through a particular author's published works(I mean BCTS published work) and vote for what I like. With me, it would show as 2 votes, but with a nonauthor, 1. I'd read that as someone did that and voted for your stories. Cool!
Somebody liked something you wrote enough to wade through all your stuff and vote!
