Dimelza Cassidy asked me to delete her stories and blogs, which I did. She told me why and it rang true. . .but I won't repeat what she said because she didn't ask me to provide an explanation.
She said she wanted it to be like she'd never been here.
Erin - she specifically asked that her name be deleted from the authors' list.

I've got a policy that authors don't have to explain but I would like to know.
This has happened enough lately that I'm thinking of changing policies. How can I prevent this kind of thing if people won't tell me what has gone wrong?

I feel like someone died and a knife is embedded within my heart. Her stories will be sorely missed by me!!!!!
Why?.....why?...
I do so much for everyone and try bring fresh new talent in and encourage all our authors to write and inspire them. Deleting their works is akin to killing them off. It erases the feellings, the scenery, the little worlds we live in for a short time. We lose that author's voice.
Dimelza, please..... I wish you had talked to me first. Im always accessible.... why?

Please don't vanish. Your stories are too good and too unique to be just mothballed somewhere. Your work is in a genre of its own and a fine example of good writing. Don't know your reasons and wouldn't judge anyway but please don't put them in mothballs!

That's really sad.
Dimelza and I had a lot of history and experiences in common and I love her stories. We were both interested in motorcycles and both had enjoyed the same era albeit from perspectives on opposite sides of the Atlantic. We had several very enjoyable and enlightening 'conversations' on the subject via the BC message feature.
It goes without saying that I enjoyed and admired her writing but I'll say it anyway. They approached realism in a way few stories here do even those which purport a real world classification. I sometimes took her to task over factual background which resulted in some of our lively but always good natured communications. Her TG characters were rarely conventionally passable but never the less had a spirit I couldn't help but admire.
Whatever she chooses to do I sincerely wish her well. I'm only sorry that it looks like I'll never get a provoking message from her in the future.

Why did she and/or others stop being happy here? What is the big change aside from the influx of new people?

Sorry for things
I'm sorry Dimelza left, and very sorry she took her stories down. I enjoyed her stories, "Mister" was the cream of the crop but not the only good one she wrote. I didn't used to copy stories I liked, but I have now started saving anything I like on a 160 GB external HD. Unfortunately I did not save any of Dimelza's stories, and that is my loss.
There are people on here who make a point of attacking people they have decided they don't like. They attack their viewpoints, opinions, every little error, whatever. It is possible to dislike things about authors on here without disliking the person. But some people here have brought me close to the point of picking up stakes and leaving.
Awhile back one author who made a public point of not being available via PM turned hers on long enough to send me a nastygram before turning them back off. I have blocked several people from PMing me due to some less then friendly exchanges, figuring it was the safest to do, so I'm not perfect in this regard. That is part of the reason why I'm not very active on here anymore. I have been a bit more active lately, trying to encourage some of the new members and support some who have been around for awhile and don't receive the credit they deserve. If I get some more writing done, I may resume a full-time presence.
So having been through something like this, I can understand why Dimelza decided to beat a retreat. I wish she hadn't, but there it is. Club somebody in the head enough times and they are going to leave.
