November Street

Synopsis:

For Jeanne, who never saw the November when I missed her most.

Story:

November Street

by Joyce

From All Hallows peace through Thanksgiving feast
Feel crisp autumn breezes, see bright falling leaves.
The crowds, how they bustle, the trees how they rustle --
For joys unforgotten my lonely heart grieves.

Ripe apples a nickel, two hugs for a tickle,
The street fairs delight and cold nights need a partner.
We play toesies in bed, talk of books we have read --
Memory's image of love, no edge could be sharper.

How sweet in the morning to wake up my darling--
Still snug between covers, with kisses we greet.
God paints every autumn, so it won't be forgotten;
Love, I'll always remember our November Street.
