Something Lovely

Something borrowed, something blue,
Something old, something new,
Something lovely happened tonight.

Something bright, something pure,
Something grand, something sure,
Something lovely happened tonight.

The pastor asked, “Do you…”
And the bells rang soft and true,
As the choir sang of love
And all the heavens above
Witnessed something lovely tonight.

I can tell you a miracle happened,
In a sad and lonely world
Amidst the modern swirl
And the state the planet’s in
It takes two to make it spin!
Find a soulmate for you must
Because the future is only just
A present you’ve not unwrappened.

And you both said, “I do…”
In voices soft and true,
And the choir sang of love
As all the heavens above
Witnessed something lovely tonight.

Something borrowed, something blue,
Something old, something new,
Something lovely happened tonight.

Something bright, something pure,
Something grand, something sure,
Something lovely happened tonight.

Lovely

I liked it but then I'm a sucker for schmaltz. Always wondered what further words that old saying might have. Thanks for sharing it with us.
