It was one year ago that I posted my first story hear, God Given Face. I'd really intended to have my next story ready to go for today, but I'm afraid I missed that deadline by a country mile. As I mentioned, I changed jobs and moved, and that cut out a lot more writing time than I'd originally planned. So, at best, next story will be late next month.
Today's my first day out of work. I'm not complaining, since I left my old job willingly and have a new one lined up - one I'm really looking forward to. Just feels odd not going into work today...
Anyway, we're busy packing for the move. If my comments or responses are slow-to-nonexistent for the next two weeks, that's why.
It's been a while since I posted any new stories here, but my latest, Shadow of a Doubt, is up. I've entered a few local short story contests and even won one, but they were straight SF stories, no TG involved, so I haven't been posting them here. I've also been working on a TG superhero story that's been giving me tons of trouble, so I finally stopped to do a quick mystery. My goal here was to keep the story short and give all the clues needed to solve it. I'll wait a full week before posting part 2 to see if I got enough in there while still keeping it difficult.
Thanksgiving's coming up, so time to start sharing recipes. This is one of the recipes I make every year - family tradition and probably the best cranberry sauce I've had. I'll give amounts, but really do all ingredients to taste, vary them up based on whim, whatever...
2 cups cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup orange marmalade
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup brandy
As part of my quest to get better at writing I've decided to actually follow the advice I keep seeing out there - yeah, I know, that's a radical idea and all, but it just might help... So, I found a nearby writer's group and intend to go there next week.
I've gotten in discussions about books a few times now, either in comments or PMs. Is there a way to embed links to Amazon in our messages so this site gets their affiliate credit? I see the ad in the corner of the site that lets the site get a commission from Amazon shopping, but don't know if we can make that more general.
Just wanted to know in case we can make those links ourselves. Might as well - I'd be quite happy to see the site get some credit when I shop there.
I just posted my first story here last week, and figured it would be nice to introduce myself. I've been lurking here for a few years, and enjoying some truly excellent stories - thank you all very much. I'd recently changed jobs, and the new position is much less demanding than what I'd done previously (pays more, though ;) The upshot of which is that I've been getting bored, so decided to try my hand at writing, thus my first story.
