Do You Mean In Your Mind?
Or do you mean that the response is not what you expected? I deal with the latter all the time. If you're not happy with the story, work with it. To edit, modify or wholesale change it is your prerogative. Everything you write is unique. Nothing is the same, and not one story is going to get the same response. As a writer, you have to live with it.

Narrow Band Filter
Sometimes your audience is relatively narrow and if your writing strays out of the confined list of subjects that they like, your work flops. It happens to the best. The story that meant the most to me, and was from my heart, did not do that well.
And, if you devote some time to the study of your audience, you can write formula stories that will do really well.
