Well, I am breathing a sigh of relief. I had a physical today, and by the time I went there I was shaking and near tears because the last time I went the prostrate exam set off my PTSD something awful.
But as it happened, the doc didnt need to do that this time, so I escaped without a major meltdown

It was good that the unwanted
It was good that the unwanted wasn't needed today, so what about the rest of the exam?? Anything you want to share or are you in good shape. Kind of "You look maavalous" ??
Thank the Goddess
For estrogen. After 15 yrs, my Doc doesn't even consider a prostate exam.
Depends when one starts on E
If one starts relatively late in life it is still recommended. Ideally it should be done before starting on E as E will mask the symptoms of an existent case without actually resolving it. I started on E when I was about 23 so the likelihood of prostate cancer are pretty laughable.

prostate exams are traumatic
I was never sexually abused. However the last time I had a prostate exam I don't think the doctor liked me or my history or something.
I have never felt so violated in my life.
I hope to never have one of those again so long as I'm aware of it.

Prostate Gone
I'd been taking E for more than ten years when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My PSA results were below the threshhold, but I was having symptoms that wereen't right. They got worse and the PSA started climbing. Five years ago Thursday I went in for a radical prostatectomy. Three weeks of horror followed and it took nearly eight months to get back on my feet. The prostate exams weren't bad, but the biopsy was hell. I'm still cancer free and incontinent. It beats the alternative, I think.

well done
I had my semi annual checkup with my Leukaemia consultant last Thursday. The relief you experience at hearing the words 'See you in 6 months' is just wonderful. I was on a high for the rest of the day.
I'm due a prostate check in March. Something I'm not looking forward to at all.
Oh, the perils of getting old.
