Well, I came home this morning to a message from my sister saying my brother was hurt by the reaction of my friends on facebook and by my not jumping to his defense. So I did the only thing I could do - I sent a loving response, and then took my dog for a walk outside in my prettiest skirt, just because I could. I'm not going to let them pull me down anymore. I love them, but I need to keep myself healthy first and foremost.

Two Thumbs Up!

That is great, Dorothy. We're all proud of you. :D

Keep being you, because you make a great you.

PS - Have a great weekend.

You go Dot.

I know the family thing well. I'm not even out and they are still jerks. I'm behind you all the way darling, and such a lovely view. ;)

Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair

As much as I'm happy for you...

...your worlds have collided, and there's not much left to do unless you want to redeem your relationship with your brother. Keeping both worlds separate might not bear fruit with your family, but exposure to well-intended but decidedly pointed comments by friends might very well push you further apart. For the sake of the slightest possibility of bringing them around, it might be more prudent to exclude them from public comments about them on line; a Dorothy Facebook page that expresses how you feel without the risk of upsetting them further. It might seem like patronizing, but as the old fable goes, you can gain more influence with persuasion rather than force.
