for all my Swiss and Yorkist friends and followers, each celebrated their national day yesterday!

We sort of celebrated Yorkshire day here with a Chinese and a beer - not exactly traditional or very Yorkshire but it was better than nothing!

August in northern Europe is often quite damp juxtaposed with the warmest weather of the year and this year the pattern looks unlikely to sway drom that. The last day of July, Monday, was a bit damp to start but dried up after lunch for a pleasant afternoon - not that i did much beyond a walk to the shop.

And the 1st day of August was forecast quite similar so i set off for a shorter ride down to Clevedon for a chicken burger, hoping to get a tailwind for the return. Indeed it actually worked out quite well, remaining dry for the entire ride, quite warm at times, the short ride adding just over 90km to the yearly total, pushing it over 8000km. That might sound a lot but its actually @ 1000km short of where i usually am at this time of year, tbh i've not had the enthusiasm for the longer rides, a mixture of weather and bike issues hasn't helped but that's just excuses, i've not done the walking either.

Today, well there's a band of wet crossing the area so its a bit of a duff day for doing much outdoors, i'll get in a trip to the shops at some point but i'm getting a bit stir crazy!

I'll be back at the weekend, i might even have some writing done by then!
