So because Sharon has been unable to get a caregiver for Sam, she's going to have to come here twice a week on the days Sharon works.
On the one hand, I love seeing Sam, and I'm sure she's not unhappy to spend time with me and mom.
On the other hand, this means me getting 1 mental health day a week is going to be impossible, and I worry I am not going to be able to provide the activity level she needs.
I think she needs someone who can keep up with her, not a crippled Dad.
Well, we'll just have to do our best.

Consider this:
"Sam, please help me this thing X, then we can do fun thing Y".
Start with easy "X"s, but no help => no "Y".
I'm thinking about kids and dogs: When and where it's safe, we let them run around like crazy, and when they crash, we can get a nap ...
Wait - If Sam is at your place, where's Dog? Let Sam & Dog get each other tired {evil grin}. Is there a "Dog Park" near you?
And s/he's Sam's Dog, so Sam does Dog care.

I visited Yosemite with a friend. He was 'all over the place' (but always within 10-15 meters), while I hiked along much more sedately. When we got back to hotel, he hit me up for my OTC pain killers ... I also needed one ...
the dog belongs to my aunt
although he and Sam have very clearly developed a bond, even after only 2 visits. He listens to Sam better than he listens to his owner!
