I wanted to give everybody an update, because its been a busy time since I last blogged.

First, we have a therapist in our house. My brother and sister in law's cat Blanka somehow sensed I was having a tough time, and did something she doesn't normally do - jump into my bed and purr in my ear. That pushed Mr. Nasty away, and thank God.

Second, we were able to get my mom to see her doctor, and he's arranging an appointment with a specialist to help us figure out why she's having these episodes in the early morning.

Third, in case I was starting to get cocky because of the above, Sharon called and told us she found a lump in her breast, and we're taking her to the doctor today.

The rollercoaster continues ...

ah, well.

Glad to hear

you are doing a little better, and getting help with your mom. Hope things go well with your sister, frequently those are nothing serious. My mother went through that more than a few times, always ended up being nothing much. She lived to be 82.

See what assistance is avaiable ...

When my Mom was ill, we got some number of hours a week of a 'housekeeper' to help - cleaning, laundry, groceries and such. Shopping was 'best', as I did not have to leave Mom alone. Also got a visiting nurse, and a physical therapist.

Please have a chat with your doc, perhaps better, the nurse, or your insurance help line, and see what assistance you can get; might help 'offload' you from some to the "too much" you need to do. "Get help with care of aging parent" is not a new or rare problem.

And it looks like you have some family/friend support.

You might have co-pays, but that may be better than you going into overload or burnout (>not< a fun place).

Good luck!!!

my brother and sister in law are looking into that

and we heard from the geriatric clinic that will be doing the assessment and it should happen before the end of the year. they also gave me an emergency assessment number if her condition worsens to the point we cant wait,
