I had a strange experience yesterday and I really need to talk about it. I was part of a group meeting all day, and even though I know the people well, I began to have a really unusual way of distancing myself - I began doodling. I'm no drawer, but I started making little pictures of anything I could think of. I still engaged others, but I couldn't stop drawing. I have no idea what this means, but it worries me.

I do this too & I cannot draw anything that resembles anymore then what a kindergartner can do, its all nonsensical. I would not worry about it, it is just a way of escaping, I even 'fill in' the holey parts of letters 'A, P, D, R, Q, O, B' and sometimes others if the swirl in the font is needed. All this is normal nothing to worry about

I have tried plenty, even my mum whom is great at drawing tried, it is just one of those things fatefully out of my skill set.
I prefer writing, love calligraphy, particularily through dipper quills.
yup sometimes I swear I am born in the wrong century, even when I write people say it is like looking at a historical document, by my writing lol.
I can do lots of things, but majority of art projects I am just not good at, perhaps I didn't try hard enough, being colorblind tends to limit my confidence in that subject.
I love art, classic & antiquities; painting, scultures vases etc....modern stuff is not in my adoration but...
I wish I could make such works of art, who knows what the future holds

At the conversation / discussion not engaging with your grey matter - it wants to do something and as you have a pen in hand it doodles. I know some compulsive doodlers, others occasional. It's certainly nothing to worry about and it's probably more acceptable in a group situation than tapping out a beat or humming!
