I recently finished a short novel (46,800 words) set in a fictional midwestern college in the early 1970s. I've done research, but I wasn't born yet at the time the story is set, and I'd like to have at least one older beta reader read it and give me feedback before I do the final draft and publish it.
It's science fiction/alternate history, where the only major difference is the rediscovery of the drug invented by Dr. Henry Jekyll, and its use both as a therapeutic drug in psychiatric treatment, and as a recreational drug on college campuses. The main character tries it and finds that his alter ego is a woman, more cheerful and outgoing than his baseline male self. They experiment with it a number of times over their college career and figure out more about their gender identity and sexuality.

tried twice
I've tried twice to PM you, and the message refuses to show up in my que of messages. I was born in 1945... I remember the 70s well. My children were born in that time period. Maybe you could message me and see if it shows up for me. I'm not comfortable putting my email address here in a comment.
Hugs
