My Muse’s Tale of Abduction

Just when I thought I would never see my muse again, she came back home, having hitched a lift from a friendly spaceship that, for some reason, looked like a very large tennis shoe.

And this is the story she brought with her . . .

My muse said, “Late one night, while I was wishing on a star, down from the sky, came a man in a car. He said ‘I’m Amos, get in Bellion, come on let's go for a ride’”

“And what did you respond?” I asked.

“I told him ‘Out of sight!’ and jumped in, of course”

“Then what happened?” I asked.

“Well, he introduced me to his computer, Helva, and she fixed me up a bit for the journey.”

“You mean . . . “

“Yep, full transition, no waiting.”

“Lucky girl! So what happened next?”

“Well, we played cards on Venus, sunbathed on Mercury, and jammed on Jupiter. Then I realized it was getting late, and asked for a ride home from a friend of his. Of course, I got Amos’ phone number, but I don’t think I can call him often, its a real long distance fare for that kind of a call”

“Cute.” I responded, and then I asked, “So are you back for a while?”

“Unless his friend’s ship does something. He called it an Improbability Drive, which I guess means anything can happen.”

“I think you’ve had one of those all along!” I said.

She just blushed . . .

Muses are . . .

. . . Hussies, I tell you! I mean, if she’s around, make her happy, Dot. Show her a good time — you have to! But you just know she won’t stay . . . Because those minxes never do!

Emma

they can be quite wild

but that's part of the fun, right?

huggles, and thanks for the comment!

Give your muse...

A cookie. She earned it.

Ron

You'll never keep her around with peanut butter!

Fresh oatmeal cookies, with whatever tasty additions you want tossed in -- chocolate chips, nuts, raisins, cranberries, M&Ms -- is the way to go.

Oh, wait. I'm talking about me, rather than your muse.

Umm... carry on!

(We're about to go shopping: maybe I should splurge on some cookies....)

Melanie E.

oatmeal cookies are good too

I picked peanut butter cookies because I might be able to make them.

I hope your muse stays for awhile, we miss her. My recommendation would be Oatmeal Raisin cookies. My grandma used to make them and I would hoard them. Thanks Dot! :DD

DeeDee

raisins in cookies?

not for me!

huggles anyway!

Yeah...

Muses are like that. They go, they come. Your muse is a courteous one. Probably has a proper example. Usually, they don't say where and what they have done.

My muse is pretty wild

but she did come back with a story, so all is forgiven!

One (virtual) Pangalactic

One (virtual) Pangalactic Thundergurgler on the way to your muse.

Muses ... Yeah ...

Mine dropped:

"Four-Space Tapestries ..."

on me, which are five great syllables to start a haiku, leading to all sorts of weaving or multiple threads or Fate(s), or or ... in the rest of the haiku ...

Yep. Hands me this Really Great Start ... and then, for this one, has gone missing...

For >forty years< ...

Maybe I should just stick it in my Xanadu folder ...

Perhaps....

Four-Space Tapestries
Past and future, threads are spun
From both time and space
