- Hofer — A higher Country, principally agricultural, that slopes down to the Great Valley shoulder above Lower Fanir, whose uplands border Hofer to the south.
- Jestik — Up in the mountains, across the ridges from the Uplands of Upper Faral and Faralmark, neighbouring Vosanal which is to the North, and Hofer which is to the north-east
- Joth — Up-river neighbour to Smordan. This Duchy is an island as the Sirrel flows round both sides. Down-river neighbour to Forguland
- Kittrin Empire — Country formed by a set of islands off the west coast of Alaesia
- Lower Fanir — A neighbour to Yod, Upper Fanir and, just, Ferenis. This was overrun early on. It has a large island in the Sirrel, normally named Lower Fanir Island but once the Yodans had invaded it and took it over, they renamed it to the Yodan Island. Hordelend Vale is the name of the uplands of Lower Fanir
- Mirdul — a Great Valley Country upriver from Benmond and opposite Thesk
- Moxgo — City/state deep in the southern mountains, the Palumaks. This is the name as used in Palarand. The official name is ‘The Five Valleys’
- Ovardua — city in an unknown country on an unknown continent (could be a country rather than a city!)
- Pakmal — upriver from Yod, is supposed to share a side valley with Yod, but Yod annexed that side valley quite a while ago
- Palarand — Country as well as its largest city which is the capital
- (Duchy of) Plif — Small country on Palarand side of mouth of the Sirrel, marshy and boggy, primary export is Wax-tail, a substance used for water-proofing
- Rungen — City/State up in the mountains; has dealings with Moxgo but is not in the Five Valleys
- (Kingdom of) Shald — a kingdom north of the Great Valley, the upper reaches of which spread as far as a Vale between the Telar Valley and the upper levels of Brugan and Smordan. This Vale is the Nardenis Vale, which is over the crest from Therel Vale. The Capital of this kingdom is Pradens
- Six Cities Nation — A nation formed by a loose coalition of six cities situated on the west coast of Alaesia
- (Domain of) Smordan — a country upriver from Palarand, up-river neighbour to Virgulend, down-river neighbour to Joth
- (Electorate of) Stirmond — a country upriver from Palarand, well beyond Yod — Terys’ homeland
- Terkat — a country, well beyond Yod, upriver neighbour to Thesk
- Thesk — A Great Valley Country which spreads for a long way on the north-west side of the Sirrel. It lies across the river from Zebrin, Benmond and Mirdul. It’s capital is Thesk Town
- (Duchy of) Upper Fanir — A neighbour to Yod, Pakmal (across the Sirrel), Faralmark and Lower Fanir, which was overrun fairly early on
- (Kingdom of) Vardenale — Country on the other side of the Sirrel estuary to Plif

- Bakhmenek — a village/small town not too far from Bakhrad and its creek in Northwest Yod, south of the capital.
- Bakhrad — a small village built amongst the ‘mangroves’ on a creek (Bakhrad Creek) in Northwest Yod, south of the capital; still governed by ‘Ascendancy’ officials, aka the Overlords.
- Bakhzorum — another small village near Bakhrad and its Creek in Northwest Yod, south of the capital; subjected to the cruel rule by ‘Ascendancy’ officials.
- Bendyke — Border town in Benmond on the Raider’s River where the Trade Route crosses from Mirdul
- Benmond — Capital of the country with the same name
- Benmouth — in Benmond, at the confluence of the Benbourn and the Sirrel, opposite Thesk’s Norport
- Beress — village, originally a trading post, in Brugan, at the junction of the highways that lead to either Brikant (over the ferry to Terban) or to Dekarran via the Therel River crossing, with the highway going south down to Brugan in the opposite direction
- Beress East — Ferry slip close to, but not in, Beress and from where the ferry runs to and from Terban in the Palarandi Duchy of Brikant
- Bezlet — New village being built in Garia's lands, where an access road is being built to get to the river. Probably where the railroad to come will cross the main road
- Bibek — Capital of the country called Faralmark; at the confluence of the Faral River and the Sirrel
- Blackstone — High mountain small town, Barony Seat
- Brankane — Capital of Vardenale
- Brikant — Duchy seat of Brikant (Upper Palarand; formerly a country but now a Duchy in Palarand)
- Brio — A small town/village on the west branch of the Sirrel just downriver from the divergence where the river flows to either side of the large island that is really part of Lower Fanir but has been under Yodan occupation such that the Yodans renamed the island from ‘Lower Fanir Island’ to ‘Yodan Island’ – the two branches of the river are known, to downriver travellers, as either the ‘Brio Branch’ or the ‘Wadek Branch’
- Chaarn — A town that is the destination of the Bray River Chivan Trade Route. A thousand and more marks away, it is a port city on wide estuary of large tropical river, similar to the Amazon
- Charnet — a village near the West Bridge over Crescent Lake
- Chidrell — A town/village in Yod
- Dekarran — Duchy Seat of North Palarand, town at the confluence of the Palar with the Sirrel. Formerly the capital of Palarand
- Dremso — small town near Tranidor where Captain Bleskin has a home
- East Ferry — a wide ferry passage across the Sirrel estuary, not too far from Kandovor in Kendeven on the south side of the estuary, and west of Viridor in Vardenale on the north side of the estuary
- Fanegada — A small riverport on the part of Upper Fanir known as ‘Fanir’s Finger’; it is actually opposite Pakmal but is close to being across from the confluence of the side river known as the ‘Yodan Waterway’ or, more properly, the ‘Yodak’
- Fanir — Capital of Lower Fanir, across the river from Yod, and at a junction of trade routes
- Faralan — Capital of Upper Fanir, on the confluence of the Sirrel and the Fa river, just across the border from Faralmark
- Farso — A Sirrel-side village/hamlet in Faralmark, downriver from the Zebrin/Pakmal border on the other bank
- Fasnar — A provincial town in Upper Fanir, in the northeast province up against the ‘Northern Ramparts’, a.k.a. the Great Valley wall
- Ferengate — A ferry slip opposite Ferenis Town
- Ferenis Town — Capital of Ferenis
- Fia’s Wood — Ferry slip in Brugan opposite Wallside in Palarand (Brikant)
- Forguland (Town) — Capital of Forguland
- Forguland Port — the riverside suburb close by Forguland (Town)
- Fort Vanip — A town on the Zebrin River, just about in the middle of Zebrin; it used to be the capital and for a while was called Old Zebrin
- Gakra — A village in Virgulend, roughly opposite where the arms of the narrow riverside strips belonging to Smordan and Brugan meet
- Galdarin — A small market town in Joth, roughly 15 marks south of the capital, the hub of the south—west communities of the island
- Haligo — town up-river (along the Palar) of Teldor, mostly south of a narrow gorge, farthest point up-river for shipping
- Hamalbek — A Sirrel-side village/hamlet in Faralmark, upriver from the Zebrin/Pakmal border on the other bank
- Hirdam — small village in Smordan; the Smordan side of the ferry to Joth at Thorn and also a well-known boat builders and repair works of excellent repute
- Holville — Primitive mining town upriver of Haligo
- Hulmar — A small village/town in Joth, being the East Slip of the ferry from Joth to Forguland
- Jenbek — A Sirrel-side village/hamlet in Faralmark, upriver from the Zebrin/Pakmal border on the other bank

- Nether Bend — Barony in Central Palarand, neighbor of South Reach

- Nokan — Village or town in Benmond, from where a ferry connects across to Thesk
- Norport — In Thesk, a port town opposite Benmond’s Benmouth, a long way downvalley from the capital, Thesk Town
- North Slip — Dekarran side of the Sirrel, for the ferries that arrive from South Slip
- Old Zebrin — The ancient capital of Zebrin; where the Trade Route crosses the Zebrin River; renamed sometime to Fort Vanip
- Ovardua — city in an unknown country on an unknown continent (could be a country rather than a city!)
- Pakmal (Town) — Capital of the country with the same name
- Paktrin — A Sirrel-side village/hamlet in Zebrin
- Palarand (City)— Capital City of the Kingdom of Palarand
- Palum Falls — In south-west Mirdul, on the Palum River and on the Trade Route, not far from the border
- Pendigo — the ferry slip/port on the Virgulend side where the Trade route uses a ferry to cross into Brugan; on the opposite bank to West Haral
- Pradens — Capital City of the Kingdom of Shald
- Rufen— Being the west slip of the ferry across the Sirrel between here and Yod City
- Sheldane — fishing port in Brikant, once a ferry port for crossing the Sirrel, but abandoned as such when a storm took out the terminal on the opposite bank. Sometimes used as a goods port for Brikant City. Taken by the Yodans as the invasion point for their forces to capture Garia
- Simbek — Capital of Plif
- South Reach — Barony in Central Palarand
- South Slip — Town/village on the Sirrel, location of ferry crossing to Dekarran
- Tamitil — Village close to the southern edge of Garia's lands, just north of Tranidor
- Tel Botro — A city at the northern edge of the plains at the end of the old Chivan Road, beyond the Stone Sea
- Teldor — Town up the Palar river from Dekarran. Known in Chivan times as Polpetter, the city history suggests that it was overrun by a tribe who emerged from the deserts to the west, crossed the ridge and descended upon the city sometime after the Great Flood struck the Great Valley.
- Terban – the ferry slip/port on the Brikant side where the Trade route uses a ferry to cross into Brugan at the slip called Beress East
- Therelis — a market town on the Therel river as it cascades down into the Great Valley in Brugan
- Thesk (Town) — Capital of the country of the same name
- Thorn — a walled town, being the Joth side of their 'East Ferry' connection to Smordan (at the village of Hirdam). It is where the main road splits, with one road heading south-east to Joth City, and the other heading west to the 'West Ferry' crossing to Forguland at Hulmar
- Tobeligo — Yodside of the ferry from Ferenis. Name changed from Zemmera after the war
- Toselhem — city in the Five Valleys (aka Moxgo) somewhere to the south-east of Kamgo
- Tranidor — A town past Holville in the Palar Valley. Is at the confluence of three valleys: The Palar, the Sufen and the Bray. See also under "Nobility of North Palarand"
- Treen — the ferry slip/port on the west side of Virgulend where the Trade route uses a ferry to cross into Smordan
- Tserikon — Poor riverport village in Yod
- Tuvalek — A Sirrel-side village/hamlet in Faralmark, downriver from the Zebrin/Pakmal border on the other bank
- Tysoe — A small Pakmali riverport opposite the ‘Fanir Finger’ part of Upper Fanir
- Viridor — Port city of the Kingdom of Vardenale about 75 marks from Palarand
- Vormarin — A Sirrel-side village/hamlet in Zebrin
- Wadek — Yodan riverport, about a day’s journey upriver from Bakhrad, five or so marks upriver from Tserikon; also just a few marks downriver from where the Sirrel splits to pass either side of the large island that is really a part of Lower Fanir; this is on the east branch and the entire branch of the Sirrel here is known to riverfolk as the ‘Wadek Branch’ as opposed to the ‘Brio Branch’
- Wallside — Ferry slip in the Palarandi duchy of Brikant opposite the Brugan slip of Fia’s Wood. Situated close to the Great Valley wall and near the southern extremity of Palarand
- West Bend — Barony in Central Palarand
- West Haral — the ferry slip/port on the Brugan side where the Trade route uses a ferry to cross into Virgulend; on the opposite bank to Pendigo
- Whyrrham’s Wharf — fishing village / small port just a few marks downriver from Yod City
- Yakum — a large village in Yod, not far from Yod City, at the junction of trade routes
- Yod City — capital of Yod
- Zarnan — city in the Five Valleys (aka Moxgo) somewhere to the south-west of Moxgo
- Zebrin (City) — Capital of the country with the same name
- Zemmera — Yodside of the ferry from Ferenis. Name later changed to Tobeligo
- Zoon — A Sirrel-side village/hamlet in Zebrin

- (The) Axis — a connecting lane between East Street and West Street; it runs along the south side of Em's house, and continues (with a small dog leg) across Main Street and between the Carpenter's (Torin) and the Musician's (Horbelan)
- Bell Lane — a connecting lane between Main Street and West Street; it runs along the north side of the Bell Inn, and it bisects Jepp Park
- Camping Ground or Camping Place — later divided with one piece renamed Parade Ground; now known as the Market Place
- Claw Lane — a connecting lane between East Street and West Street; it runs along the south side of the Ptuvil's Claw, crosses Main Street (with a slight dog leg), and runs straight down to West Street
- (The) Cut — most downvalley lane that joins East Street with the Dam Road; very wiggly-waggly
- Dam Road — crosses the slope above East Street, from the dam to the Camping Place, the Community Hall is built along this road

- Forest Road — a modern name given to the town’s access road, from the bridge across the Blackstone River down to the forest’s edge
- Jafferkin Park — an open area, not to be built upon, around the Community Hall
- Jepp Park — an open area, not to be built upon, along the east side of West Street which is bisected by Bell Lane
- Julina Park — an open area, not to be built upon, in the 'triangle' formed by Dam Road, East Street and North Cross Lane
- Loop Road
- Main Street
- Market Place — the new name for what used to be called the Camping Place
- Middle Cross Lane — another connecting thoroughfare joining Dam Road and East Street, roughly half-way between North Cross Lane and South Cross Lane; it descends first diagonally north-west across the slope, then kinks left to make a perpendicular approach to East Street
- North Cross Lane — the straight way that connects Dam Road with East Street and on to Main Street, the nearest lane to the Market Place; it joins Main Street opposite the Wheelwright's
- Parade Ground — an area taken from the original Camping Ground
- Quarry Track — later absorbed by the extension of the Loop Road as far as the north edge of the Camping Place
- South Cross Lane — a connecting lane that needs to wiggle as it descends from the Dam Road, opposite the Community Hall, down to east Street and then on to Main Street along the north side of the Steward's house
- Stone Sea Road — a road that leads up to the Stone Sea from the Loop Road, the junction being to the west of the Artisans' Area
- West Street
- Haligo Gorge — a narrow, winding geological feature with steep walls and at the base of which runs the river Palar in an unceasing and noisy torrent, along with the Trade Route. Bridges often carry the Trade Route across the torrent as it twists and turns. Occasional buildings are mostly warehousing. Gloomy and depressing
- North Haligo — a small community of less than twenty houses with a small guardhouse and a relatively expensive inn (‘The Northern Gate’). This is situated around the northermost mouth of Haligo Gorge.

- Pakh Lane — a run-down lane in a poor part of town with several brass-working workshops, where Fulvin worked on his obsession for zips
- Scullery Alley — a poor lane with workshops and hovels; where Nim and family have lived
- Shevesty Field — a large open area used for fairs and the like, as well as for Shevesty! Site of an old Chivan amphitheatre
- Street of the Grennis — brass works fire in this street
- Street of the Tanners — Frayen's Head Inn is in this street
- Street of the Thatchers — Blackstone House and Master Tanon's mansion are here, it is in the West Dranitil district
- West Dranatil — A district, which contains both Copper Street and the Street of the Thatchers, and therefore both Garia's mansions

- Bray Bridge — aka East Bridge
- Castle — built at the very North Edge of Tranidor town, against the Valley Walls. It has an outer and an inner bailey with offset gates to get through the walls
- Cross Street — the main connecting street that runs from the East (aka Bray) Bridge to the ramp that leads up to the West (aka Palar) Bridge. It passes through Junction Square
- East Bridge — aka Bray Bridge
- East Gate
- East Palar Road — a road down the east bank of the Palar, and therefore in the main town
- (The Lane of the) Inner Ramparts — a street in Tranidor in which the old 'Gallin House' can be found, opposite the business of Mistress Nayet
- Junction Square — where Main Street and Cross Street intersect
- Main Street — runs south from the castle to the Market Place passing through Junction Square
- Market Place (Tranidor) — near the south end of the main town in Tranidor

- South Point — a small district of the main town, south of the market place, going to the confluence of the Bray and the Palar

- (The) Bezlet Bunkhouse — a rough and ready B&B at the ‘road end’ of Bezlet.
- Brayview — A roadhouse on the Chaarn route, just 4 or 5 marks south of the Chaarn/Blackstone fork. This develops into the second town of Blackstone County
- (The) Clay Pot — an (the) Inn at Bezlet
- (The) Forest Roadhouse — The only roadhouse, at first, between the Chaarn Road junction and Blackstone — rebuilt by Garia's team — 22 marks from Blackstone and 17 from the Chaarn Road fork
- (The) Retreat — a refurbished old abandoned Chivan fort where Garia overnighted on her first visit to Blackstone. At her request, the fort has been made liveable and a surrounding area has been fenced off, with the intention of preserving some original forestry and wilderness against later urbanisation. The footprint is roughly rectangular with approximately two marks of riverfront and approximately half a mark depth.

- (The) Auction Shed — a covered construction housing an auctioneer's pulpit and several stalls in the middle of Blackstone's Market Place.

- (The) Frolicsome Frayen — a new inn in Blackstone, currently being built against the south wall of the Cistern, designed originally as accommodation for those travelling to Blackstone to be wed.
- Market Place Mansion — a building, currently under construction, at the south-east corner of the Market Place in Blackstone. It is at the apex of Julina Park and is the 'mother house' of the Consociation of Caterers.

- Fa River — Rises up in the Upper Fanir uplands and runs down to the Sirrel; once it has tumbled over the crest into the Great Valley it forms the border between Upper Fanir and Faralmark
- Fanir River — Runs down through Lower Fanir where it joins the Sirrel opposite Yod City
- Faral River — Runs down from Upper Faral and into Faralmark where it joins the Sirrel at the capital, Bibek
- Fer River — A tributary of the Sirrel, it flows down from upland Ferenis and then turns to roughly parallel the Great Valley wall for some twenty marks before joining the Sirrel opposite the north-west corner of Forguland.
- Nardenis River — this river flows to the west (and joins the Sirrel much further up) from the crest that separates this valley and that of the Therel. Its valley lies between the Telar Valley to its north and, to its south, the above-shoulder valleys which lie to the north of the Great Valley. This is in the Kingdom of Shald.
- River Pak — Born in the uplands of Zebrin, it tumbles over the shoulder into the Great Valley and after a while it forms the border between Zebrin and Pakmal. In its few marks of descent to join the Sirrel, two cuttings siphon off mini-streams to provide free-flowing water through each of the two capitals – Zebrin City and Pakmal Town
- Palum River — Runs down from the Mirdul Uplands and then cuts across the south-west corner of Mirdul to join the Sirrel below the town of Palum Falls
- Palar River — valley that contains most of Palarand’s mined riches. Is in North Palarand and is the major valley. Also a trade route to Tel Botro. Joins the Sirrel at Dekarran. Upstream, continues to the north-west to a low pass opening out to a wide grassy plain.

- River Thesk— Runs down from the uplands through the country of Thesk where it joins the Sirrel at the capital, Thesk Town
- (The) Yodak — Former name of what is now known as the Yodan Watercourse
- Yodan Watercourse — A tributary of the Sirrel on the south side which drains the uplands of both Yod and Pakmal. It used to be called the Yodak. Theoretically the west bank and lands behind it belong to Pakmal whilst the east bank and hinterland belong to Yod. However, Yod long ago forced the Pakmalis out and claimed the entire side valley for themselves, renaming it to reflect the new reality.
- Zebrin River — Runs down through the middle of Zebrin from the Zebrin uplands. It joins the Sirrel roughly in the middle of the country; approximately half way between the River Pak and the Syrob.
- Lakes
- Crescent Lake — an enormous ox-bow-type lake created when the river was diverted by a storm. Is nowadays an important waterway as it cuts a lot of distance for water-borne transport to the countries up-valley from Palarand, due to a canal at roughly each end. Several bridges cross this lake, but are not shown on the map
- Dymyr’s Lagoon – a small open bywater on the downriver side of Bibek in Faralmark that is neither lake nor river, but more a sheltered anchorage. Later renamed to the ‘Royal Dockyard’ in preparation for Princess Eriana’s visit.
- The Faral Wintik — a barge captured by the Ascendancy believers when it called in at Bakhrad.
- The Golden Dawn — a sea-going ship with which Tanon had to rendezvous in Viridor.

Especially if the universe keeps 'growing', an Oracle database might be in order :)
But seriously, that might not be such a bad idea (some kind of database, even it it is like SQLLite), that way one can easily add categories and have the characters and then generate a query to get data and use it as a basis for another program to use to generate the data in this web page.
The database can also drive a small program where a new episode is read in and a comparison is made between capitalized words that are not in the database (ignoring the common pronouns and prepositions etc) and showing to the maintainer for adding to the database.

These reference works were not of much interest to me at first. But after I got into the whole Anmar thing (thanks to a tip from Dawn Natelle, another great writer) I started to make use of them.
I now re-read the WHOLE Anmar batch around once a year, and make regular use of these files while I do that. I love how it all keeps growing. The collection of details that you have built and maintained here makes the whole thing all the more interesting.
