Andromeda Smith

This story is not finished and after almost losing it owing to recent chaotic events on the Internet and my own computer, I have decided to post it a chapter of about 1000 words a piece 1 at a time. TG content may be added.

Chapter 1

She struggled to get awake enough to find some interest in the new day. She’d recently graduated from university with a master’s in computer science and she’d sweetened her time there by taking so many extra courses in several other disciplines that the cumilative hours almost equaled those of her major. In time, perhaps she’d have multiple degrees.

None of those in her circle, including Andromeda, knew that a genetic modification substance was busily changing her and others. Andromeda’s diet had become much less vegan and more Mediterranean. She’d never dyed her jet-black hair and now streaks of golden blonde were appearing. She’d grown a bit plump at school and now she was at the lower end of the BMI scale for her, like a professional model.

Some knew the modifications were happening but did not know how it happened. Most would not believe that the substance came in on a body delivered accidentally by visitors from another planet. They though they were just dumping their garbage and it would burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Her sloppy sweatpants that were full of holes had gone to dresses and then to very short mini dresses. She didn’t need to consume intoxicants because the modifications kept her and her friends feeling mildly high. Studies had taken so much of her time that she was still a virgin, though no one had accused her of being anything but heterosexual.

Generous Grants made it unnecessary to find a job as such. Those who supervised her were quite taken by her brilliance. They were happy to see her make another discovery. She was now sure that the many recent changes in homo sapiens had come from outer space but had not actually discovered the mechanism.

Finally awake, Andromeda felt a new warmth in her body that made her restless, and she would become wanton as time wore on. After a quick breakfast, she went to the lab to finish up an experiment and then to lunch with friends.

She was just finishing a wonderful salad when she looked over her friend’s shoulder and into the eyes of a man that she felt an immediately compelling attraction to. She excused herself and as he moved toward him, her friends giggled. He was sitting at a small round table on a stool, and she took the stool opposite him. They talked for only a few minutes, and they left, neither knowing the name of the other. Before she knew what was happening, Andromeda was on her back, sans panties, and he was buried in the void between her thighs.

She’d been completely asexual her whole life, and taking the drug to prevent menses, had never confronted her femaleness or sexuality. Her breasts had never felt a bra, being of moderate size. Andromeda writhed gasping with arousal hoping that he did not stop doing what he was doing for a very long time. The blood was minimal and would wash out of the spread easily.

Later, she did not know how long, she woke up alone. His absence made her feel bereft at first. Andromeda did not know his name or where he lived. They had used a bed sit over the restaurant, and when she left, the door latched behind her. Downstairs, her friends were gone, and it was late evening and would be Sunset shortly. Andromeda reflected to herself that she had fun and then did her best to forget it.

The next day at the lab her work was mostly keyboarding on her research log and writing some code. Andromeda had worn a spaghetti strap mini dress with a flared skirt. Barbara, who was nicknamed Barbi, hung a flannel shirt around Andromeda’s shoulders; “just in case you are chilly,” Barbi told Andromeda. They both knew that Barbi was being a bit snarky as she was correcting Andromeda.
She never saw the man again, and aside from a slight loneliness didn’t ever think of the nameless man.

Passing a storefront today, she saw a gaming poster and with shock realized that she was dressed so much like the girl on the poster. The only things missing were the winged war mask and the energy projector that looked like a bulbous spear. Why hadn’t Barbi said something to her? For a moment Andromeda felt ridiculous but slowly accepted that this is who she’d always been.

She and everyone that she knew and did not know were living in a world that was so different than the one that she’d been taught about. What had happened? Was everything she was taught a lie?

Looking from the patio set high above the valley below at times felt dangerous because there was no safety railing, but earlier she’d found the courage to approach the edge and found that a force kept her away from falling.

A small lazy wandering river wended its way down the narrow valley between impossible mountains. More than a dozen moons or planets shown in the dark blue sky. There were few stars and oddly clouds seemed to drift among the bodies in the sky. Still, there was enough light to see well, more than moon light but less than bright Sunlight. Dim, but not depressing.

Feeling a slight chill, Andromeda wandered back inside her rooms. She’d finally gotten used to the floors there that one moment looked solid and another seemed as if they would let her fall through them.

The entry doors to her rooms were huge double doors big enough to drive a team of horses through. Often, maids brought her meals to her rooms but when she was needed, a summoning would take her to one of several dinning halls. She’d only been to the Grand Hall once to listen to a message.

Ms. Smith had a lot to get used to in her new role. Right now, she thought it was only her very sexy image. She’d never been licentious, not even to flirt and now to seeming to have graduated somehow to a life as a very adult woman was so confusing.
