Just come back from the local chippy (Touted to be authentic English Fish and chips).All of a sudden, I found myself with a new accent, and drinking lots of cups of Tea. The Cod was a bit small and the chips were dry and looked like they came out of the oven. Tried to rescue the grub with loads of Vinegar. Then I washed it all down with a bottle of Dog (Newcastle brown Ale), which warmed my cockles.
I have an English house guest of Indian descent here this week and am getting a very pleasant education. She strongly suggests that I improve on Alys's work by changing her story subject to Liverpool FC; who are miles better. I had been thinking of running off to New Zealand for a while and ran into Kiwi bloke who greatly encouraged me to do it.

Fish and Chips!
Where'd ya go? I used to live in Portland, Orygun. There are a few real good fish and chips places, The Elephant and Castle on SW 2nd Ave. cooks their fish and chips in lard, real authentic! There's Gaffer's Fish and Chips in Tigard, at the intersection of Pacific Highway and Hall Blvd, it is very good also.
Then there is my favorite, The Horse Brass at SE 45th and Belmont, it is an authentic English pub. A lot of the English diaspora, in Portland, go there.

Chip Butty
You can't beat a chip butty;
Thick slice of bread, spread with *lots* of real butter, and crammed with hot chips before folding.
The quantity of butter is essential, as part of the experience is the way it oozes down your chin as you bite into it.
NB. Is it only us Brits that know how to make and enjoy heart attack food?
Fatty Food
I am originally from Maine and We believe all fish is best good dipped in lots of butter. The same for Lobster, Clams, Shrimp and Oysters. Real butter can clog the arteries real fast.
