they have given her some meds, so we will have to see if that helps, or if she needs more invasive measures.

Sounds Like
A job for a pacemaker. Nothing to be scared of. One day's brief operation and an overnight to check that it works properly. I've had mine for nine years and I wouldn't know it was there. I'm getting a new one in about six months...even easier because the wires just stay in.
