A couple of weeks ago, I met up with my angel Mike. I have blogged before about him. We meet up several times every year. He encourages me to express my "Leeanna" side. When I first met up with him I was petrified going for a walk along a quite seafront at night. Each meeting now I cross another boundary.
I met with him on a Friday evening on a holiday park in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. I was Leeanna from Friday. evening all the way to Monday morning. We spent some time hugging. He has not been well lately, and really needed a hug. Who doesn't? He brought me a beautiful bunch of red roses. I love getting flowers. Something I can't express 98% of the time.
On the Saturday we went out to look at "abandoned" churches. Norfolk and Suffolk ( Come from North Folk and South Folk) is/was very agricultural. For hundreds of years that meant a lot of human labour. For 1000 years plus that meant they all needed to go to church.
Nowadays farming is heavily mechanised. So there are many historical churches in out of the way places that are disused.
Over 3500 churches have closed in the last 10 years. There are organisations that keep and restore some of these. We both love history.
The best one we saw was 800-900 years old. It had medieval paintings on the walls. Another had walls and bricks from a Roman fort.. We only ran into a few people, so I was comfortable. The next day the weather was bad , but improved in the afternoon. We went for a drive and had an ice cream on the seafront. There were more people around and i realised I wasn't attracting any attention at all. I started to fell very comfortable in my "skin".
When we got back to the holiday park I suggested going for drink in the bar. This is something Mike has asked me if I am comfortable doing. I have always said no. It was fairly quiet. There were around 15 people in there. I sat down a quietly chatted to Mike and life went on around us.
I suppose most of us don't realise how much we ignore other people unless they do anything to attract attention. We were in there around 30 mins.. I felt so happy to just "fit in" Nothing to see here. As I have successfully passed before in a sweater and leggings, I wore the same. I did keep my sunglasses on. There were other women there doing the same, so I didn't stand out.
As I walked back to our chalet, I had such a huge grin on my face.
Thanks Mike, for giving Leeanna a life outside my head. x
You make being stuck as a guy most of the time bearable .
PS I used the "ladies" while in the bar. Sorry JK Rowling, The world didn't end.
In the car
In the bar
In the old church

Sorry JK Rowling, The world didn't end.
And nobody got molested or had an unpleasant experience. It was all girls in there.

Happiness is being all dressed up and HAVING some place to go.

To be honest Patricia, no one
To be honest Patricia, no one else was in there. I don't think there would have been a problem if there was. Most people just wash their hands and leave. I can understand them having a problem with an open changing room and an "intact" trans woman, but not somewhere where any undressing takes place in a cubical or stall.
Leeanna
look at you go!
congrats on being brave enough to get out there. and good to know the world didn't end!
Enjoy Your Freedom
It's great that you have somebody to hold your hand (figuratively speaking) and provide that emotional support.
Even with Rowling's TERFs and the Supreme Court decision I don't think that makes it illegal in the UK for TGs to go to a Ladies toilet, does it? They've merely consigned us to non-existence.
He does hold my hand
He does hold my hand sometimes. You don't see people doing this much nowadays, so never when there are many people about. It wasn't even illegal for a man to go in the women's bathroom in the UK until recently. The law is still being worked out.
Google says
No, it is not illegal for a trans woman to use the women's bathroom in the UK, but recent legal developments and guidance suggest it may not be permitted in certain single-sex spaces, particularly if the space is designated as such due to the legal definition of "woman" as based on biological sex.
A recent Supreme Court ruling in the UK clarified the definition of "woman" in the Equality Act 2010, stating that it refers to biological sex, not gender identity. This ruling has led to some confusion and debate regarding the use of single-sex spaces, particularly bathrooms, by transgender women.
No one seems to know. I suppose it comes down to not running into a turf. Women often take young boys in with them, men take young girls into the "gents" where would a law leave that practice?
