I have notice a fall off on reviews both here and on Fictionmania.
I have asked there whether this is a reaction to these troubled times, when the very small and thoroughly pleasant transgender community has been picked out as the substitute jew to be hated by pliable majority. Are people frightened to put their names (even pennames) to a few words in praise of our evident perversion?
I just hope that is not true and that the courage to simply stay calm and carry on still exists
As I said on my post on FM "These are troubling times for such as we, but remember the Civil War, the Great Depression, Prohibition, McCarthyism - all things pass."

There are many seeds of Chaos
floating about in this world today. But here, now, on BigCloset TopShelf, we should still be able to send out the rays of light to our authors to keep them growing and nurtured so as to benefit their many tales of joy.
I for one can do so.

Personally
For me, it's business as usual. Here, if a person wants to remain anonymous they and hit the Kudos button and be done with it. At FM you are only required to put a name in there. They don't care if it has any relation to the person entering the review.
If I were worried about such things, when I left a review at FM, I put "Donald Trump" in that box.

Frightened to death at times
I suffered from depression and suicidal ideation for much of my life and for good reason except for about the last decade. Then we elected a man who seems like a new Hitler. Recently I have been considering going back under the care of a shrink and getting lots of prescription drugs. Last night I had a Heart episode... What's that song? "Just trying to make the best of a bad situation."
You Could Help
By filling the void left by those who are no longer posting reviews/comments. I have no personal problem as I am not a citizen of the Nazi States of America. I don't think you'll find that there is any decrease in my comments, but I don't do FM or visit that site so I can't comment on what's happening there.
I feel as though there has been a drop off in stories……
By those authors whose work I most enjoy. True, some are just as prolific as always. But others have simply disappeared - a fact I have often lamented here. Whether it is simply because of their real lives becoming too full (or perhaps burdensome might be a better description for some), their individual muses have taken a break (whether short term or long term), or some other more terminal reason, many of my favorite authors are no longer posting here.
Yes, there have been new authors who have taken up the slack; but like all things in life, sometimes change is good - and sometimes not. I am not disparaging anyone who puts forth the effort to write and post here, for they have done something which I cannot. However, there is always chaff with the wheat - meaning that you have to sift through to find the gems amongst the new authors.
Not all will agree with me, but it also appears that more and more stories contain ideas and concepts which are not appealing to me. A case in point, it seems that the quotient of forced fem is rising. That is something which I don’t enjoy reading in the least; some authors may use it as a tool within a larger story, and because of that I will sometimes slog through stories which include forced fem or petticoat punishment. At least until I can discern that is the sole purpose behind the story, in which case I will not read any further as the concept is abhorrent to me; I have seen enough real evil in this world and don’t appreciate it in fiction - at least not unless it is merely a means to develop a character or plot line rather than the be all and end all of the story. For how does force feminizing someone differ from society forcing those of us who are transgender to live in the wrong gender? Are they not the same?
I also find it frustrating when an author begins a wonderful story, only to drop it after peaking the reader’s interest. This happens too often - although as one who is not an author, I can surely understand how difficult it must be to write a serial or novel length story. As a reader, when you find a great story, you never want to end. But all things must come to a conclusion.
I guess, after rambling through this long post, my point behind this is that I make an effort to leave comments whenever I read a story. Sometimes it takes a while for me to boil my thoughts down to something relatable, and sometimes when reading a serial I may not comment after every single posting - but I try to convey my thoughts to the author, especially if the story leaves me with strong feelings one way or another.
