Screen writers where are you?
As a footnote to my story Talk Show I said: "I started this story by writing a script for three episodes of a TV show called “Crossover” with a transwoman detective faced with some of the crime scenes and issues outlined in these “transcripts” but I know nothing about script writing and I was finding it too difficult. It struck me that the story was really about method acting and how the cast related to TJ becoming immersed in the character. But I still wanted it to be TV, so the talkshow thing. Unfortunately this device is very limiting as there is little scope for description. What I am trying to do is hint at the fascination and confusion in just dialog. I still think that “Crossover” would make good TV in the hands of somebody who knows how to write this stuff."
Somebody I know slightly has recently had their draft script picked up by Netflix "for assessment" with the comment: "With subscriber TV we are always looking for novel ideas". I think that there are real opportunities, if not for "Crossover" then for other stories emanating from our TG corner of the world.
I think that the story I was trying to tell easily transits to the mainstream as a tale of a macho cop finding a new way to deal with crime, while at the same time facing a personal struggle for acceptance. I would interested to know what others think about potential opportunities arising.
