Screen writers where are you?
As a footnote to my story Talk Show I said: "I started this story by writing a script for three episodes of a TV show called “Crossover” with a transwoman detective faced with some of the crime scenes and issues outlined in these “transcripts” but I know nothing about script writing and I was finding it too difficult. It struck me that the story was really about method acting and how the cast related to TJ becoming immersed in the character. But I still wanted it to be TV, so the talkshow thing. Unfortunately this device is very limiting as there is little scope for description. What I am trying to do is hint at the fascination and confusion in just dialog. I still think that “Crossover” would make good TV in the hands of somebody who knows how to write this stuff."
Somebody I know slightly has recently had their draft script picked up by Netflix "for assessment" with the comment: "With subscriber TV we are always looking for novel ideas". I think that there are real opportunities, if not for "Crossover" then for other stories emanating from our TG corner of the world.
I think that the story I was trying to tell easily transits to the mainstream as a tale of a macho cop finding a new way to deal with crime, while at the same time facing a personal struggle for acceptance. I would interested to know what others think about potential opportunities arising.

In the 80's

When I first started writing, I wrote a lengthy post Apocalyptic tale, the manuscript for which is gathering dust somewhere around here. My Creative Writing Professor said that when I submitted my story, I would need to send it to at least 50 publishers. For me, the 1980s were pre-Computer. I did my writing on an Electric, Dot Matrix machine with a memory.

I was so proud and expectant on the day I began to send my manuscripts off. I got replies and some marked up manuscripts from about a half dozen Publishers. The rest ignored me. A few of those were even civil to me and they were invariably female. Two said I should be a screen writer, and do Space Opera.

I think I got my first Computer in the early 90s. It was mostly Smut online then. I still remember, "Prisoners of the Teiresias", by Christopher Leeson.

In the 21st Century, the Internet has ground me down such that I only write what pleases me. The mean, asinine wanna be critiques can just bugger off. I've learned that the really popular stories here must fit a certain Demographic and if they don't, the reception is cold.

Best to you.

Film Festival

There's an active film community in the Twin Cities. A few years ago, a friend offered to direct a film, if I would write a script. Our goal was to take part in a film festival.

It was quite an experience.

The films, all were 7 minutes long, were shown in a dinner theater to an audience of other filmmakers.

My guess is there's a festival where you live. Try the process. See what happens in the "creative process." Otto von Bismarck would love it as much as he loved sausage and law.

I used to write screenplays..

I used to write screenplays...,I guess I still kind of do, as everything I write is treated as a film in my head.
Could I look at what you have?
