I wrote the following almost five years after Leelah Alcorn took her life. My story was in response to the dramatic uptick in transgender teen suicide.

We have witnessed the installation of a self-proclaimed protector of "Christian Values." What we may see is the return of an unbridled all-out assault on transgender kids; emboldened by the near-iron-like grip of religious ideologues on all three branches of our Federal Government. I thought about writing a follow-up to my story. Perhaps soon? But I fear that, at least at present, things WILL get worse.

To quote Eomer in his first meeting with Aragorn and the others, "But do not trust to hope. It has forsaken these lands."
