The last fortnight in August, 2024 has been awful, with several painful, but undiagnosed illnesses. The Doctors seem stumped or just plain don't care.

On a positive note, I have discovered that not using a cane or a walker stops or greatly diminishes the pain in my body. Part of this may be due to my scoliosis. I used to wear very firm back braces, but not recently. Somehow these mobility devices seem to aggravate all that. For now I am just going to enjoy it all. I do not have an automobile sucking my blood.

I have to go grocery shopping in the morning before it gets into the triple digits (Fahrenheit). I hope that lugging the groceries home, using the walker as a sort of wheel barrow will not aggravate the pain again.

I worked as service manager in a medical equipment store

Check the height of the canes and walker. I've seen too many people using the incorrect settings which causes issues like you described. When standing erect, the grips should be at your wrist just above your palm. Hope this helps!

Intestinal Disaster

I've only just been dealing with extreme, painful constipation. The latest episode was in the last hour. I'm not going to the health center unless I am bleeding red blood, and so far that has not occurred. The online medical advice seems reasonable enough like drinking coffee, using a saline enema, a suppository, and other oral laxatives.

At this point, I hope to last until morning so I can go to the store to get some Prune Juice, and Prunes.

If none of that works then I will call the advice nurse and/or go to the Hospital. All this feels so undignified. I would almost rather be working in a strip club.

I am quite sorry. Some of you would likely reach through the computer screen and give me a good seeing to.

Having back issues, and

Having back issues, and having back doctors for customers, back braces are almost universally contraindicated. They ended up causing more harm than good, because of atrophy. So now they're generally only used for post-surgical recovery.

You might check with a good chiropractor rather than an orthopedic surgeon or similar. (Note that there are a lot of bad chiros out there as well.)

I also agree on checking the height of your walking assistant. It's the same with crutches - many have them too long, and put blisters in their armpits. You could also switch to a straight stick rather than a cane, which would allow you to use a different grip, as well as enable other uses besides just balance/support.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

I have so much wrong with me

That, if I went to the vet, they'd put me down. However, a positive attitude is a good start and does help. Gwen, you are unkillable, so just get on with it. See you tomorrow on Zoom with all the other oldies (It's like the silver threads club!).
