many of you may know of my love for statistics, being a maths graduate and all. Earlier today I ran the statistics for my stories again (a fairly time-consuming process but usually done in well under half an hour). What's interesting is comparing them to the last time I did the stats, which was May 13 2023.
In that time (17 months and 13 days) I've only posted 12 additional chapters (amusingly, I have sixteen in my backlog right now*) increasing from 258 to 270. However, on my existing chapters:
I gained just over 50 000 reads
I gained over 3300 kudos
I gained 23 comments.
I mean, I'm not the most prolific comment-leaver in the world, but it amuses me that in those 17 months, people were moved to click that little thumb at the bottom of the chapter over 3300 times, but only used the keyboard 23 times. Funny old world.

*This is mainly because I recently started a new job role that's painfully boring and also really easy. Out of a 6 1/2 hour working day I can devote 2 solid hours to writing and my employer's reaction is 'we've noticed your figures are a lot higher than everyone else's. Maybe consider dialling it back a little?'

Commenting and stories
Several years ago, there was another author that devoted about 2 hours a day, on the clock, while on his regular job. Some of you may remember this author and that they wrote charming stories. I haven't seen one of their storied, that I know of, in years. I hope that they were able to move on to something more challenging to them that they love to do.
On feedback
I think you've just demonstrated that the 'thumb' isn't worth the (non-existent) paper it's printed on. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it: just write what you want to write. Also, on comments... I get my best feedback via personal message or e-mail, I think.
