I've heard a lot recently about the 'rise of AI'. I've heard a lot about how it might be harmful to creators in the long run. Well... as someone who can't draw for shit, it's actually kinda useful to me. A while ago I used a (very limited) program called Fuse to create images of my characters as a sort-of mental aide. The problem with these images is that it made all my characters look about as lifelike as background characters from Skyrim. So I investigated this 'AI art generator' people were talking about... And I am impressed with its output so far.
All of the following images were created using either Adobe Firefly or DeviantArt DreamUp and touched up in FaceApp.
First off, I wanted to create an image of one of the most iconic scenes from my stories- Nikki and Sarah's wedding. And apart from swapping my girls' eye colours (and whatever's happening with the end of Nikki's nose), the results are... Pretty good, actually.
Next up: Laura, aged sixteen, in her school uniform. Very happy with the results of this one.
Jessica and Paige were next- this one took a lot of tinkering with, but I'm happy with the final results.
Prom Queen Ashley was next.
Then, I got a very impressive-looking one of Stephanie.
And finally, my leading man, Ian (with a few more tattoos than usual, but they're just temporary).
I get these images might not match people's mental images of the characters- assuming anyone even has them- and that's okay. Your own mental image is the most important one at the end of the day. But I am enjoying making these and plan on continuing when I can. Future ones will be available on my DeviantArt page- https://www.deviantart.com/debsxxxx

AI Art
You are using the AI programs for what was intended. Others aren’t. There in lies the AI problem.

I have seen some good stuff
I have seen some good stuff come from DeviantArt DreamUp. Personally, I use Yodayo. They have both free and paid accounts. I am easily able to create photo-perfect pictures with it. I use AI art to also create the characters for my stories. Which someday I may eventually post.
AI art is problematic and a huge boon at the same time
I understand why people get upset at AI art. It is too easy to copy someone else's work or likeness but I don't think any of those folks will ever be successful or get much respect. In the end, AI is another tool and there will always be a huge differences between someone who steals, someone who dabbles, and someone who has studied art seriously.
That doesn't mean us amateurs can't create something decent. I've been dabbling with a program called LeonardoAI and am continually amazed with some of the results. The difference between what I can make from Leonardo vs my stock photo efforts is like night and day. Here's are a few unpublished covers I've created:
If nothing else, working on your AI art is a great way to pass the time when your writing muse goes quiet.
AI generation
Agreed, I am an aspiring erotica writer and AI-generated images help my stories a lot. Specially those on feminization because the art there has to be created on demand. Cheers!
