The Deutsche Welle [DW] (literally “German Wave”, the German equivalent of the British BBC) just published a documentary on trans life in Germany. It covers the lives of three different people at three different ages.

  • There is a teenager who was able to avoid birth puberty with the support and acceptance of parents, siblings and relatives. According to his endocrinologist there has been a huge increase in trans-boys in recent years.
  • A person in her early 30s is culminating her transition with gender confirmation surgery.
  • A person now in her late 60s started her social transition in the 1970s, has come out for advocacy at retirement even though surgery was never an option.

The almost 26 minute documentary “Trans - Three generations and their fight for recognition | DW Documentary” is well worth the time.
