It is already -15 C here, and the forecast says its going to get much colder, until we are going to have -30 C for a high on Thursday and a low close to -40 Thursday night, with wind chill to make it feel even colder.

wish us luck as we try to weather the weather!

I guess you have had similar weather in your area and know what to expect regarding health and property and travel risks, still, look after yourself Dotty. Not anywhere near as severe here for which I'm thankful every time I see those figures!

Canadian weather

I thought about placing The Worst Day in Canada for the weather but I didn't think I could write the dialogue. I wasn't sure if should be every sentence ending in "eh" or every other one.

Eh!

Eh! can be used as a period, a question mark, and a comma. Just have a big smile on your face whatever you say.

It's my turn, the winter storm is moving South towards the southern United States, and since I live in Texas I'm really not looking forward to it.

Cold weather in Texas?

Will Ted Cruz head off to Cancun like last time?
Seriously folks, stay warm, stay safe.

-40 F Common

When I was in Fairbanks, Ak 66-68', December was usually -40 F, and is oddly equal to -40 C. I don't understand the math, and my chart is only for + Temperatures. I had fun there. It sure beat going to Vietnam.

What's working for me, so far ... (Knock on my wooden head.)

I have gas whole-house heat, and I see winter (Chicago-land, USA) gas bills typically in the $200 range.

And I can't recall an electric bill above $100.

I have my home at a rather chilly 53F [1].

Then I have two electric space heaters [2], one for my bedroom, and one in my 'computer cave' [3].
---
[1] Not sure, but I think 53F is 2 degrees below what Chicago landlords must provide to their apartment residents.

[2] Space heaters do have their own dangers and problems, and need some amount of attention and care. 'Tip-over protection' must be in what-ever you buy.

[3] I invested in one of those 'fancy dancy' smart outlet strips that monitors current to my (desktop/tower) computer.(about $50-$60 via Amazon.) When I shut down, the 'smart strip' 'sees' this and 30 seconds later, shuts down all the peripherals - including the heater.
