Yesterday was just too interesting.

First thing in the morning, I wake up to hear rain. Only when I'm in the hallway. I go outside and look, a spray of water is coming off the roof. Apparently it got cold enough to freeze and burst the pipe going to the swamp cooler on the roof. Had to turn off the water to the mobile.

Tried to call the handyman. My cell phone is missing. Called on computer phone and left message. Went to class after looking thru car for phone and calling cell phone from house phone. No answer.

After class, called handyman again from home phone and left new message. Guys delivering piano come over but they can't get the piano into the house because steps to steep, they have to go build longer ramp and come back tomorrow (today, it's here now, they got it in). My brother calls, he called my cell phone and got some kid who said for me to call.

I call the kid, he tells me he took my cell phone away from some other kid who claimed to have found it in a fast food restaurant I was in on Thursday last week. ??? I'd been missing the phone that long and hadn't noticed? We make arrangements to get the phone back to me. He warns that the other kid erased all my phone numbers. (He did. And made 131 text messages to his girlfriend, too.)

A neighbor comes over and helps me figure out how to turn off the water to just the roof so I can turn the water to the house back on. We do that. I go get my phone and call the phone company to find out how much all those text messages will cost me (not much, about $5).

I collapse into bed about 9:30 and get five phone calls before midnight on the cell phone and two text messages. The text messages are from the kid's girlfriend, I tell her to stop texting this number.

Sheesh!

The piano is now in my living room and looks good. It's an upright "grand" (5'5" tall) dark-stained walnut cabinet with a glass window to see the works inside. :) The keys are in good shape and it sounds fine though a bit out of tune, only a bit which is amazing actually. I'll get it tuned next week after it sits and adjusts wood and strings to the new location.

Hugs to all, everything worked out fine! :)

Yesterday and Today

When your weather gets interesting in the desert it gets interesting here a day or two later. I'm sure you've seen the reports - bad tornados in OK. It calmed down by the time it made it to AR. Congratulations on the piano.

that sounds like something my sister could do since she did about 28000 in one month between freinds but yes erin is lucky it was a boy and not a girl who found the phone else it would be a very large bill. i know how much fun it is to text cause i love to text.

No texting for me

It takes me forever to type out a short message with my big fingers on that tiny phone keyboard! I don't know how my niece and nephew can do it so fast!

I had texting shut off on my cell phone, because all I ever got was text spam.

14,000 text messages in 2 days?

Not likely that there was any content in them.

Even without sleep, that is 291 an hour, or 1 every 12 seconds?

I wonder how many incoming messages she was able to read in that time?

Or was that 14,000 split between reading and sending?

Music

I am glad you are into music. It is a great comfort. I used to play the Tuba; not much good for meditation eh?

So, I listen to it. I really like Arab Chanting, Handel, ZZ Top, you know, all over the map. Took a test on my music preferences and they said I like the kids music on Cable. Oh my gosh! Should I feel put down now?

Nice Kid

Its nice to see kids who actually care about others , most wouldn't have bother to get the phone from the other kid so the original owner could get it back :)

Lily.

P.S
Why am I talking about them as kids I should never know they are probably less then 4 years younger then me :)

Pianos

Hi Erin.

You certainly had an interesting day.

Since I heard you got a piano,, I want to recommend a book. It's called Piano Lessons by Noah Adams (of NPR fame). I think you'd like it.

I own a full-sized Korg digital sampling grand but I'm sure I'd like a "real" piano better.
