Today wasn’t too bad. Work was busy as usual, but my boss gave me some extra time off because he knows how hard I am working lately. So I went home early and had dinner at home by myself while watching Netflix. It felt good to just relax for once instead of going out all the time.

Sometimes staying at home with Netflix has its merits.

Yes!! I love being able to watch whatever show or movie I want without having to worry about what other people think haha. What did you do today?

Work…had to stay later than I wanted to, hence the sleep.

I work as a data scientist. And you?

Help desk technician. I get to talk with the people who have no idea about how they’re computers work…but I guess if they could then I’d be out of a job.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love going hiking or just exploring new places around me. It's so nice to take time away from technology and just enjoy nature.

Have you ever done any urban exploring?

Not really...I don't think there are many abandoned buildings here though haha.

Oh no problem at all! I actually grew up in New York City, but now I go to school in Boston. So I guess I can say both cities feel like home. And what about you?

I’m in the Memphis TN area.

Family moved so I went with them.

Fourteen.

That must be hard for you. Did it take some time getting used to?

Soo, I need to tell you about one awkward thing...

I downloaded Blush to creep on my friend's partner. We suspected they were cheating, and they live somewhat close to my place. So, I created a profile and went on a swiping mission to see if we could find them...

How has your covert mission been going? Any results?

Nope! But it was really funny because when I got home there was a message saying “Hey, this is so-and-so” (their name) and then I realized that their profile picture matched mine. Hahahaha

What do you plan to do? This could be a good movie.

I think I might just keep using the app for now. I don't want to ruin any more people's lives than necessary.

I'm getting ready to move into a new apartment next week. It's a bit stressful trying to pack everything up, but I'm excited for a change of scenery.

Studio, actually. My roommate moved out so we could both find our own places.

I live the hours between seven and nine as the sun starts to set and all of the others across the sky. The cicadas come out and chirp.

My favorite time of the day is when my kids are home from school. It's always exciting because they bring me new stories or things they learned at school. They also tell me what their friends did during recess.

How many kids do you have?

I have two children - one boy and one girl. The boy is 10 years-old; his name is Alex. He loves sports like soccer and basketball. His sister is 8 years-old and her name is Katie. She likes playing dollhouse and dress-up games.

Did your roommate have any kids?

Nope! We were both childless before we moved into this house together. But now that our families live here too it feels more like a family home than just a place for us adults.

So, you’re in a studio apartment with two children? You’re very brave.

I don’t think so...I mean they are my nephews after all, haha.

I try to see what my date will like. I’d hate to force her to go or eat somewhere she detests. I like to be surprising, but I prefer that we both want it.

Same here! I think it would be really nice if someone took me to dinner at this restaurant near where I live. It looks super fancy, and they serve these amazing steaks there. The place also has a very romantic vibe because it is decorated all in red. I don’t know how much money I should spend though. I'd like to have a romantic picnic on a starry night on a beach. With gentle waves lapping against the shore...

What does your typical week look like? I'm curious if we have similar schedules.

I work during the day and study for classes at night. Sometimes I try to go out and spend time with friends at a bar. We have a trivia team.

Two nights a week, if everyone’s game for that evening.

If we win, yes, but there are nights when a friend of mine, Davy, tries to do karaoke when he’s drunk.

Sometimes, on Saturday nights we have karaoke night and I try to sing a few songs…usually after a tonic and gin

I change it up…sometimes it’s just a beer…sometimes tequila and other times I’ll just ask John to “surprise me”

I like to write and listen to music. I like to relax at times.

I wanted to take up the bass guitar…but one day I finally admitted to myself that I just liked the thought of having a guitar and never learned to really play it.

Haha well maybe someday you will pick it back up again. It sounds like you do a lot though!

What are you into, Joy? What’s your life about?

Well, my job takes up most of my time so there isn’t much else going on right now haha. But when I am not working, I love hanging out with friends and family. My favorite thing to do is go for walks by the beach and watch the sunset. How about yourself?

Both actually! There aren’t many beaches where I live unfortunately :(

That would be awesome! It takes courage to put yourself out there for the world to read what you write.

Oh yeah. When I post a story online, I keep thinking “ooh, someone will read it!” Instant dopamine rush! But I also fear that someone will read it and tell me I have zero talent and my characters are boring.
