On this day, April 19th, 1995, at 9:02 AM, white supremacist Timothy McVeigh destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City with an anfo bomb concealed in a U-Haul truck. The blast killed 168 people, including 19 children in a day care facility. The truck was parked directly in front of the day care. Over 800 people were injured. It remains the deadliest domestic terrorist attack in U.S. history.
Not many people think about it anymore or even know it happened. Time has moved on, and 9/11 eclipsed it in terms of death and destruction. Remember though: 9/11 has committed by foreigners from the Middle East. The bombing of the Murrah building was committed by a native-born U.S. citizen, an army veteran, with the assistance of other U.S. citizens.
We Remember. We Will Never Forget.

Been to site, a very ...
... moving memorial. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_National_Memorial.
I worked for FEMA at the time of my visit, and have doubtless met people involved in the cleanup.
Spent my time
Waiting with the wife of a friend, hoping for word of her missing husband. She finally got word, "Partial remains identified . . .". The memorial is beautiful at night. I actually haven't been able to face the museum. A coward, I guess.

Sorry re husband, wife, you ...
Not a coward. There are some places we are wise enough to not go there because it would cause us too much pointless pain.
Or worse, to go there, we'd have to first do so much 'emotional shutdown' on ourselves, and that would be bad for us.
