and here at Bev's Acres (well metres), we've not long had Sunday lunch.

It was our sort of monthly big dinner so the chef of the day, a la Madeline, cooked lamb leg steaks with Jersey new potatoes, peas, roasted carrots and leeks and stuffing - I had Yorkshires on the menu but I forgot until we were into dessert! Of course, lamb deserves a drop of wine, todays offering a red from Sicily, dessert was red fruit and ice cream. Top meal and I didn't have to do the washing up! (thanks Bev)

So, an eventful end to the week. My dodgy knee, after Tuesdays incident, was giving me all sorts of pain through Wednesday, Thursday and Friday which meant a walk to the shops each day (@ a mile) was as much as I could manage but by Friday afternoon some of the swelling had gone down a bit. Saturday morning things felt well enough to try a short ride - I had in mind a trip around the block, so after breakfast and with the sun already warming the streets, I set off on two wheels.

The knee felt quite good, I avoided as much hill as possible but my 'around the block' lengthened and with lack of pain and a bright, warm afternoon I ended up with almost 60km under my tyres, albeit at a slow 15kmh pace. Everything felt pretty good, I won't go so far as to claim the knee is fixed but whatever I did to it, the ride seems to have helped sort it out. Tomorrow I'll try a slightly more ambitious ride.

It has been my plan, since my first vax jab back in March, that after my second dose I would, subject to restrictions, make the trip up to Yorkshire, visit family and friends I've not seen for at least 10 months and start the process of returning to GOC. I get that 2nd jab on Tuesday morning so on Friday I booked a coach ticket to travel up north next Thursday and started to fill my 'diary' with appointments, the first being the Podiatrist on Friday morning (not been for nearly 2 years due mostly to Covid restrictions). I'm not certain exactly how long I'll be in GOC, but its likely to be towards a fortnight before I return to Brizzle.

Today's Gaby chapter is #7 from Ontario, Planned Revenge. It's not the longest chapter but it does lay out some plot hints for forthcoming chapters.

I'm expecting to make postings whilst I'm away from 'base', I'll keep you informed on that front. There will of course be a normal mid week posting on Wednesday and I expect to have the next edited Kindle book up by then too, that's book 18, I have been a bit remiss on that project as I've been sidetracked with other things over recent months.

Well that about wraps things up for today,
take care
