Well, I found out my daughter got spat on by 2 guys while waiting for the bus home.
I wish I could do more for her beyond just remind her we love her.

It's possible that may be all you can do. Unfortunately, it's easy to think up a variety of immediate responses after the fact, when it's too late.
Did she know the boys? Was it a one-time shot? One might be able to let a one-time shot pass. But if it's repeated several times, take action with school authorities.

The worst outcome is if it's treated as a terrorist attack or aggravated assault, and they wind up punishing someone who had nothing to do with it.

now has video. if its not too late you might be able to file a complaint. it is assault, pandemic or not

Absolutely agree......
And check the area. If she was near a bank or store, or even some homes, they might have video that shows the bus stop. My own home has exterior video cameras that have been used several times by the police to identify someone.

That would definitely be a much more serious charge people have been charged with terroristic threats for similar things.

Some (*bleep*) are actually doing this sort of stuff because of covid, spit, lick, breath, etc. on people or things people touch. Not sure what is wrong with some people. :(

In "Au Revoir les Enfants", a new kid entered a boarding school, and the boy next to him at dinner took his "vitamin cookie" (?) and licked it all over before giving it back.
