Taxonomy upgrade extras:
First, anonymous comments have been turned back on but with a spam filter now. This also means that if anyone accidentally posts the exact same comment twice, it will be marked as spam and not appear until I can look at it. You'll get a heads-up notice on screen and I'll get an email to take a look if this happens. Also, comments that contain a LOT of URLs will be marked as spam until I look at them.
Second, for authors, there is now a scheduling capability built in when posting. You can schedule when a story, blog, poll or forum post will appear and even when it will disappear. Times shown in the boxes are USA East Coast which is where the server is. If you don't want to schedule appearance or disappearance of a post, ignore the scheduling boxes. This can be useful when posting a series or serial where you want the posts to appear at intervals.
Thanks to Bob Arnold for making a small change on the server that made it possible to add the scheduler. :)

Wow
The spam filter really workx. :) Already, it's caught nearly fifty pieces of spam and made it easy for me to delete them.

Anonymous comments and spam
Well, the spam filter has caught over 1300 pieces of spam in 55 hours of operation. In that time there has been 3 anonymous commentsleft on the boards. It's nice to get the comments but you know, those spam comments use up processor time since they come in flurries, it can be considerable. They also take my time to scan them and see if we got any real comments caught in the filters.
I'm not sure it's worth it, since there is a way to leave a comment without signing up using the "Guest Reader" login. Comments?

I agree
Since you have the Guest Reader login option I don't think you need to make extra work for yourself by having anonymous comments. Logging in as a Guest is just as anonymous and should be simple enough for people to do.
Is there a way to have instructions appear at the bottom of each story for logging in as a Guest Reader? That would eliminate one possible complaint from people who haven't seen the instructions on how to do it.

Yes, I can do that. It maybe the way to go.
Thanks,

log in
Anonymous comments are off
In less than four days, I deleted over 5000 pieces of spam, the server crashed three times and only four legitimate anonymous comments got made. {sigh}
The instructions for logging in as Guest Reader are now prominent on the Home page and will also appear at the bottom of all NEW fiction and wysiwyg type stories. It will take me some time to get them to appear at the bottom of other types (blog, book, forum, story and weblink) but I'll probably get that done in a week or so. Thanks everyone for the input.
