I've been fighting an irritable bowel attack for over a week. Thought I was about it over last night. Then I ate some sunflower seeds before bed.

Pretty sick all night, and taking a lot of medicines. Which meant that by the time I got soundly asleep I was *really* asleep. Woke this morning with neck and lower back hurting so bad I was barely able to feed the cats.

Gonna to use my neck traction, now. If you folks haven't heard from me in a couple of days, send someone to cut me down. :-)

Update: Neck stretched and feeling better, though still a bit stiff. Turned CNN on with volume low and napped in my recliner with a comforter over me for a few hours. Back now better, as well.

I have occasional bouts of diverticulosis, had one this week after I ate too many peanuts. My problem is like IBS's little brother so I have an idea what you are talking about. Be good to yourself and stay away from those seeds!

Irritable Bowel

My partner used to suffer from it but for her at least a combination of quantities of ginger root in her diet and taking Equalactin helped her and she does not suffer from it anymore.

A data sample of one, I know, but I mention it because most people in the English speaking world do not consume ginger in significant quantities.

IBS is not my idea of fun :(

It is one of my many issues, so you have my totes sympathy. FWIW, I found relief through 500mg capsules of cayenne (go figure). Why are the trigger foods so good tasting? /sigh Good luck and stay healthy!

For all of you with various gut problems, please search Dr Greger's NutritionFacts.org for your condition(s), and see if following his recommendations will help you. Whatever he recommends in terms of diet, it >will not hurt you<.

Give his suggestions an honest shot for 2 (preferably try 3) weeks. After that time, if his suggestions have not improved things, well, you can give it up as a "bad job".

PS: One more thing - if you are on medications or insulin for diabetes, or for high blood pressure, monitor your numbers. These conditions may also improve, and you don't want to go into overdose (hypoglycemia, or low blood pressure). If your numbers change, talk with your doctor, perhaps >every day<.
