Sorry for being so cryptic earlier. I was annoyed and pissed at things. My brother is a fucking idiot who cares more about making his 25 year old girlfriend happy then actually paying bills. A bill that was due today and one that I will have to pay in full with money I can't really afford to spend. Earlier, I almost considered not paying it. Thus I said "Bye" because I was going to lose internet for a week or so because of it. Now I'm gonna have to take it out of my account---AGAIN---for the 6th month in a row and NOT be able to afford the things I REALLY NEED to buy this month because of my brother's stupid carelessness.

Apparently, he's going to lose his Internet access, to be able to pay the bills, including the half his brother owes.
If he loses it for a month, he might undergo withdrawal or detox symptoms, and then come to enjoy his life away from the Internet.

Family dynamics are complex
I spent years jumping whenever my mom hinted that a jump might be needed. So much so that I put my job and marriage in jeopardy. I had moderately stable income and mom was living off failed investments and rent payments. After a pretty hard conversation with my most significant other we decided that the better path for me was to help when help was asked for rather than volunteering whenever I saw an opportunity.
Two things resulted. First my mom and I talked more honestly. Second, my siblings started picking up parts of the load. Good times, Good times.
I fully support helping family, friends and even strangers when it is possible. Heck, I'd support ensuring everyone on the planet lived above the second rung of Maslow's hierarchy if we could agree on a way to make that happen. Unfortunately the best way to really piss people off with you is to first get them to depend on you for something then to stop providing it.

I really get where you are coming from and I am acutely aware from personal experiences how you are being held hostage. I believe everyone here has good intentions, but in making critical comments they are missing the point.
You are essentially being held hostage and blackmailed because your brother is well aware that he has leverage. Not knowing your brother, it may well be that he is being played by his gf, but that doesn't absolve him of responsibility to pay his bills. You live in a community in which there are few resources for help and support. You can't afford to not have a house mate. As a result, your brother is taking advantage of you knowing he can get away with it.
Like many others here, I'm fluttering at the poverty line and, fortunately, I have friends who find odd jobs for me to make enough to get by with my disability check, so I have no money to send.
If you have someone you trust- like a therapist or counselor- or someone on this site with whom you have a great relationship, perhaps you could bounce ideas off them to find strategies for dealing with the situation.
Just know that you are beloved on this site by your readers and fans. I wish you good resolution to this problem.

From what you have written, you are a victim being used by a manipulative person, a user abuser that is unlikely to change as long as he can get away with it. I know nothing of your situation but if he also uses the internet connection and it isn't too costly to reconnect, I would drop the account, after finding a secure hotspot to use. Things like this are complicated and only you know all the details to make the best decision. Best luck move beyond this situation.
