Howdy doody boys and girls, once more the daft blonde in Yorkshire is here.

A week on and my turbulent existence has simmered down to a sort of normality, my possessions are 'safe', my temporary accommodation is feeling less alien and my thoughts have turned to my impending trip to IKEAland! Its been a week I have no mind to repeat, a rollercoaster of emotions - loss, sorrow and despair at the top of the heap, a week when my thoughts and actions all revolved around rescuing as much as possible. I resigned myself to losing a lot of stuff, in the end it was less than I feared, I still have the basics of a home, crockery, bed, cooking stuff etc, I got all my books out in the end, the stuff I left behind is all either easily replaced or not important in the wider run of things.

Time to get my game head on! Having missed my Thursday ride due to the ongoing saga, yesterday I was determined to get a good leg stretch in and so I set off for East Yorkshire, some 45 miles away. Lunch was at Howden, home of Georgie of historic bike fame, a Yorkshire wrap (think a big stuffed pancake, in this instance with roast pork and stuffing) with roast tatties and veg. Then for the bad news, what turned out to be over 60 miles into a rising headwind to get back to Sheffield - well I had to stop for more tea after 40 miles, even so it was quite exhausting.

And so to the next couple of days, i'll try to get some writing done tomorrow as well as finish collecting my holiday stuff together. Then on Tuesday i'll get in another decent ride before swapping bikes ready to get Foxy packed for flying.

Wednesday will see my last writing post until maybe September 4th although I may still manage to check in from furren parts. And so to today, I give you Chipper Benrath (pronounced Benrat), the next action packed chapter starring Roni, Manda and the Wunderkind!

Well that about wraps things up for today,
So toodle pip

Any further words from the Bell are even more appreciated now. Yeah, a tad windy!
Where didya eat in Howden? It's 40 or so from here, so a long day out on these old legs and wheels.

Was at Anna's Happy Kitchen just as you leave town on the Holme road. Excellent grub at ok prices.

As usual, the mistress of understatement with the weather! It was flippin potty at times across the moorlands!

As far as that? My legs are not exactly in the first flush of yoof either you know. Have to sort out a lunch meet after Sweden.

Glad you've managed to ride this tidal wave

Although sanity is overrated and not sure about everyone else here but I fall very short of reaching that goal (if sanity is a goal?)

My life has always seemed to be a rollercoaster of of ups and downs, every time things seems to smooth out for a bit that sudden unexpected drop always appears.

Hang in there, we're rooting for you :)

We the willing, led by the unsure. Have been doing so much with so little for so long,
We are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

not sure

About tidal wave, more like serial Tsunami!

I have friends whose lives seem to roll along like a trip down a canal, the occasional lock gates taking things up or down a little but really living 'ordinary' lives. That's never been me, maybe a handful of years fairly smooth but then some stick gets in the wheel of life and I invariably come out the other side in worse position than I started.
Unemployment, family issues, health - been there, done all that. I think i'm pretty good at what I do at work etc but somehow it's always me gets the short brown stick whilst I watch others taking plaudits, handouts etc.

Oh well, what doesn't kill you....

ROFL

That's what becomes you for having an unconventional outlook on life and NOT being a 'Yes Sir, may I lick your boots...' sort of person.
The arse lickers get the promotion on the back of your hard work. Been there, seen that, got the 'T-shirt'.
However it does mean that you can sleep easy at night with a clear concience.

I suppose

A clear conscience is a good thing but it rarely pays the bills.
