Last weekend we went to watch Karl (my beloved) play soccer for our church team. I know, I know it's a British game you guys invented and it's called football not soccer lol. Anyway, it seems that I committed a cardinal sin by talking/signing to a young lady whose boyfriend played in the opposing team. She's not deaf but does sign as one of her friends is deaf it helped me as well as I'm adapting to BSL. I saw a disruption out of the corner of my eye involving hubby it seems he injured this lady's B/F. I saw him literally flying over Karl's head as he slide tackled him I think he said. Karl got red carded meaning he got sent off. As he came over he was complaining that he went for the ball, this lady was pretty upset and said oh yeah which one?
As this was going on and I'm trying to create a little calm Chloe ran onto the field. She grabbed the referee then said or probably shouted at him. "Are you blind or stupid my Daddy went for the ball." I turned to Karl and said, "Karl go get your daughter before I kill her." It was then apologies all round although thankfully the referee saw the funny side of it. He suggested that I get her involved in the game as he saw her kicking a ball around at the start of the game. When we got home I sat Chloe down and explained to her that when you play sports it's easy to get carried away with excitement. When that happens people can get hurt that's what they have referees for, to protect everyone playing. I got Karl to sit and talk to her as well. As for getting her involved in the sport, I'm not sure because at her age it's mixed teams but as they all get older they play either all girls or all boy soccer. So, I guess we'll have to wait and see but I know she wants to.

Is a game (note that game not sport) played by girls of either gender. Most females that play prefer ladies to boys and apparently the males that play believe the ability to run around a field twice a week makes them gods gift. It's not unknown for it to work either but that might be the money.
Do not encourage any child to become involved beyond kicking a ball around in the park.
Get the young lady to take up a real sport that isn't led by an over riding pseudo macho history.

I am not sure that males older than 12 do football...
Anyone older looks like a worst kind of ... non male person. Some are known to be killed by the grass stalks... And almost every "game" someone goes off the field on a stretcher after encountering air depression behind passing foot of the other "player".

Air Depression?
Would it be air depression? Or might it have something to do with foot odor? Maybe both?

Magic sponges
The professional football game has magic sponges to deal with most of these incidents. Following an attack of air depression, someone comes on carrying a bucket, he takes a sponge from the bucket and holds it on the player's affected leg and suddenly the player jumps up and can play again.
For some reason the magic sponge hasn't reached the game of Rugby. When players in that game get cuts around the eye, these are just treated with butterfly stitches, and the player carries on.
Magic sponges are for like broken spine...
... in three places... For usual kind of injuries like broken legs - there is a magic spray!
