Afghan war
Your mention that Dr. Watson was in the Afghan War caused me to research that war. It isn't taught is US history classes! There were three Anglo-Afghan wars, the first when India was still governed by the British East India Company, the second was the one Dr. Watson would have been in, and the third not until 1919. Thank you for inspiring me to look them up.
