So, here we are, almost at the end of August and I must admit that the heat has been on a couple of times the last week - not so much against the cold but to make sure its working before it does get cold.
The schools hereabouts go back on Monday, the new university students are buying up IKEA (well their parents are) and instead of mid high 20's the temp has dropped to late teens / low 20'sC - yup I guess that does mean summer is over-ish.
What a cheering thought but at least Season Opener will brighten up the day! The latest chapter see's the Wunderkind back on two wheels but this time without the aid of a motor, a call from Jules does however put a dampener on the day!
Look out for more on Sunday.
in other news:-
- I've got more Gaby chapters in the can this week so the next arc is on schedule for mid September release.
- I'm into the last block of pre-Austria training now, yesterday was 130km with 2250m of climbing, tomorrow will be another hill strewn affair before going into a couple of flatter, recovery rides before departure next Wednesday. i'm sure our Gabs would be relishing the effort but i'm somewhat older and broken, its hard work this cycling lark!
- had my first 'on the road' puncture in over three years yesterday - can't complain at that, just grateful i'd completed the 50kph decent moments before the deflation! 1 for luck, 0 for the £15 I spent on new tubes afterwards!
Well that's it for now,

Warming up over the weekend
Typical... Just as the holidays end it gets warm.
And don't forget the 'Tour of Britain' that starts at the weekend. Sky will be out in force (Thomas & Froome)
Enjoy your rides.

otherwise
known as the Tour of everywhere except Yorkshire!
my money is on Tom Pidcock to bring it home for Yorkshire and claim all the jerseys!
the big guys are not really interested, just showing themselves to home fans - after all either of those two could trounce the rest of the field if they wanted to.

Come on now Maddy, Mansfield is not that far away... Yes, I know it is not in 'Gods own Country' but sometimes you need to leave.
Don't forget to take your passport...

it has
been the organisers policy to not visit since the ToY started - they are afraid that GOC will show them up as a second rate promotion - hang on a minute they already are! The national tour should be National, not a series of one day events spread hours of driving apart, it is less a tour than a series of one day races connected only by the common field of participants.

Seen the actual route - a veritable tour of Gabyland and some of my regular training roads, The only issue is that I shall be in Austria!

Summer's End
North America is moving into Labo(u)r Day weekend, which is regarded as the unofficial end of Summer. It's been hot where I live, with air temps. above 90 F. 37 C. (body temperature) = 98.6 F. I don't recall this sort of heat at the end of Aug., in my youth.
