I have never posted a blog entry before. Not even sure if anyone will even see it. I have another story that is about half written. It is clearly not done and I have a few thoughts on where to take it. After many of my previous stories people have suggested the direction I should continue them on. To this point I have not done any of that. For a change I was thinking of posting the first part of this incomplete story and see if any of you wanted to suggest where to take it. The basic direction may be obvious, but there are lots of potential longer-term alternatives. I think it would be fun to get some input before I go back to the typewriter. Maybe the consensus will be its not worth continuing... I hope not though. If you prefer, I can shun the input and try and get over my writers block. Most of my stories I do not know the twists and turns until my fingers put them onto the pages. The ultimate fate of the characters are usually a bit more obvious.

Any stick has at least two ends.
On the first hand, there are one to many unfinished stories on this site.
On the other hand, your stories posted look like finished ones.
(As MIA Ellen Hayes loved to say in such lists) On the gripping hand, do what you are comfortable with doing. If you are comfortable with doing what majority of readers want you to do with your stories, do it. If not - just say to the readers: "Bad luck, it is my story, these are my characters, it will happen that way!"
And be prepared that your "kudo" counter will go to over two hundred not on every part of your every story. It is not directly related to the story. Some of the best stories here are still with under 150 kudos per chapter! Some of them were posted more than 7 years ago. Seen statistics on number of reads from some similar site. Shorter stories tend to get more reads, more nice comments, more likes. It is just a sad feature of "western" style of education, that most people are stuck somwhere around preschooler's reading ability and ability to remember things for more than 5 minutes... ;-)

Nina, Since you are one of my favorite writers, I'd encourage you to go ahead and post it of course! I'd be happy to comment/make suggestions if you think it would helpful. Sometimes we all need a gentle nudge to help us find our way and, given all your wonderful stories here, I trust that your instincts will tell you if you are headed in the right direction. No intent to be cruel or offencive. Just remembered an old joke about encouragement:
Hedgehog is a very proud bird. It will not fly without good encouraging kick!
(Hedgehog could be replaced with any local non flying (normally) critter. Encouraging kick could be replaced with a kick to any convenient spot to place a kick to make a critter fly...). (usually it is somewhere near the tail...)

or feed it Milk.
Cat or Dog food would be a lot better.
Here in the UK, the population of the nice little Critters has plummeted in recent years.
They are good for your garden in that they love to eat Slugs.

...better hedges (actually better fences) reduce the number of the hedgehogs? And squirrels prefer bird food to acorns any day, so if you block their access to bird feeders, squirrels tend to ignore supply of acorns and move away...

It is important for the writer if readers adequately accompany the stories with comments.
But stories have a dramaturgical structure. Each story goes through a process, starting with a beginning and ending after the middle part with the ending.
But first, a story needs a framework: the audience needs to know where the narrative takes place, when it is narrated, and who appears in it.
The writer has an idea at the beginning, which sometimes takes some time, sometimes months, to bring them to paper or to the keys of the PC. Mentally, therefore, the story arises from the introduction to the end.
Therefore, it will be difficult to give due consideration to any suggestions made by the readers if the intended content cannot be met.
I do not want to exhaust my thoughts on your blog entry. But please allow me the advice or advice, please do not let yourself be dissuaded from your imaginary concept / framework by amendments proposed by your readers.
If I buy a book, then I have to deal with the content and cannot make any suggestions to the writer, like him to write the story.
