For anyone who has an address in the United Kingdom, please sign the petition to stop the culling of badgers. It's being done to supposedly prevent the spread of bovine TB, which is a serious disease. However, the science doesn't back up the killing of badgers and may make it worse by causing perturbation. This is the movement of badgers caused by change in the population through culling. If any of those moving around are infectious (not the same as infected) then it could increase the risk to other badgers and possibly to cows, though the majority of the disease is passed from cow to cow and made worse by poor animal hygiene by the farmers.

The culling (unnecessary as it is) but the killing of Brock in other parts of the country being poorly disguised as road kill.
Given the latest crime figures we are never going to see anything done and i'm afraid yet another petition, however well intentioned won't make the slightest bit of difference.
Signed but wouldn't hold my breath for any sort of result - let's face it, they knew the science before they okay'd it in the first place.

but to 'dose' a predator like that...you dose the prey. With from what I have heard , a dust or other means of spraying?

If that's what they wanted to do, it's as easy as killing them. They tranquilize wild animals all the time by using air rifle darts filled with tranquilizer. Simply replace the tranquilizer with the immunizing drug. Lacking that, a live trap will corral that animal and then it could be immunized.
That's obviously not what they want to do.

More, you clear out one area of ANYTHING, you've opened up territory for critters from OTHER territories to expand into, which is the direct OPPOSITE of attempting to quarantine something.
