Hey:
Look at this link. Maybe not so empty headed? Maybe she has a lot more brains than she lets on? And, once she found out that there are consequences to her actions...who knows?

Paris
I never did think Paris was just an empty-head. No one who has the money she started with needs to work as hard as she does unless they just think working is cool. Don't think she works hard? Try doing a TV show sometime. :)
She's not old enough to run for president though. LOL.
Hugs,
Erin

I Still Believe She Is A Symbol Of Irresponsibility
Paris Hilton is one one these young rich women who uses her family's wealth and name recognition as an excuse to do anything and everything she can get away with. To me she is the poster child for useless people. I have never seen her do anything that really makes any meaningful contribution to society other than fatten the wallets of the major shoe designers, fashion houses and wild party planners. At least her former cohort, Nicole Richie, has finally settled down and is raising her new baby without making herself a daily spectacle. She is finally growing up and it is time that Paris did too.
Image
That's the image the media portrays of her. Is it true? I'm not sure. She's been working since she was a teenager, not just doing anything she wants. Perhaps it is time Paris did something else but why is raising a baby better than working and providing employment for her crew? See my sig. :)

Useless people
Why shouldn't she do as she can? Based on the standard of making a "meaningful contribution to society", very few of us can qualify. If I cease to exist tonite the only people that will even notice is my family, my clients and a few other aquaintances. "Society" as a whole could not care less whether or not I continue to exist.
Although I would certainly enjoy having enough money to be more comfortable than I am, I know I, too, would like to feel more financial freedom to allow me to follow my whims.
Erin's got a good point too. She keeps a sizeable crew employed full time. Some of them may even be having fun doing it.

I love Paris in the summer
It was pretty funny, especially if you saw McCain's video -- to which Paris was replying.
Perhaps if McCain had seen Legally Blonde, he wouldn't have been so quick to underestimate the girl.
Well, HE started it! Gah!
That dumb ol' Mackane what's his name started it! I duno, maybe she'd be pretty hot in a more presi looking pants suit. Mebbe I'd vote for her. Our lackluster American politics seem pretty lame right now.
Of course, if Obama gets it maybe some muslim morality could help... Of with their heads!
Giggle.
Gwendolyn
Oh, come on!
She assiduously cultivates an image of being a brainless twit, addicted to shopping and tasteless behavior. Why should anybody take her seriously? She certainly hasn't given us any reason to.

Maybe she just did :)
And she's good practice at not taking people at face value. I think that sort of skill would appeal to some people here. :)

Well . . .
I can't view the video, and they haven't shown the entire thing on the news, but what I gathered from the clip shown is she is sitting poolside in a semi-decent swimsuit, and she said she should be elected president because she is hot.
As for taking people at face value, I tend to go by the image presented. Partying out on the town with no underwear is hardly a very good reference, is it? :-)

Don't laugh... it could happen...
The French almost elected a comic to the presidency in 1980. Coluche ran as a joke, and had 16% of vote intentions, while the leading candidate had 32%. He might have won too, if not for the multiple death threats he received, and his stage director ending up dead with two bullets in the back of the head.
There's also a stripper that got elected to the Italian parliament, can't remember her name.
Sometimes, people prefer an honest clown to a bunch of dishonest clowns. Paris may be a joke, but she's a lot funnier than her competition.
Cicciolina was her name
The ex-porn star who was elected to the Italian parliament. Her real name was Ilona Staller. She was also supposedly a spy for the Hungarian government.
There was a comic who ran for president for many years: Pat Paulsen. His party was the Straight Talk in American Government party. Somehow he never got elected.
Those of you who remember the Smothers Brothers TV show may recall him from there.
There was also some old guy in Vermont or New Hampshire who ran in the Republican primary for Senator a few years back. He ran against some rich guy who thought he'd move up there and buy himself a seat in the senate. The people were so disgusted with him, that they all voted for the old man instead, knocking the rich guy out of the race. There's a film about it somewhere...
