I see a problem.
1946 versus 839. Remember those two numbers and try to follow me here.
Chapter Twenty-Four - 1946 reads. Chapter Twenty-three - 839 reads.
Chapter Twenty-Four was accidently published before Chapter Twenty-Three on Friday. We corrected it by publishing Chapter Twenty-Three right after that.
But, Chapter Twenty-Three does not show up in the 'Quick Cuts - Recent Content'. It only appears in the chapters list for the Wildcats story itself.
I see a problem. An awful lot of people either skipped reading the chapter or did not know the chapter was published. My theory is the latter. As the author, I try to make each chapter important and wonder how people are interpreting a story where about five percent is missing for them.
Help me solve a problem.

I Read 24 First
At the time I thought it was a bit odd but ok to jump to mid-day the following day and go through the day from that point. I did wonder what happened with Jessica Jade's follow up and thought that Terry would have likely talked to Grace Goldman since she was in town. I thought the hook up with Jenn was more or less spontaneous, but I was curious. I guess I had questions at the end of 24, but didn't feel like a chapter was missing. After discovering and reading 23, it really did flesh out Terry's feelings and cover Jessica and Grace as well as explain the date with Jenn. Does the story still hang together without 23? Yes. Should it? No. The story is much better with 23 in place.
If you place a note about 23 & 24 at the beginning of Chapter 25 that should catch pretty much everyone.
thanks for the objective eval
thanks. that is appreciated. glad it made sense to you. hope that is true for everyone
read counts
Could some of the disparity come from people starting 24, noticing its jumped, going back to 23, and then going on too 24 again, causing 2 "reads" from one person
hmmm..
that makes sense...
"Double" reads
I was one of those. For various reasons I was a bit late reading the latest part and by that time there was a notice about part 23 having been posted before.
You are not only one
Another author (Ginny's story) also switched chapters recently.
Check reads vs other chapters, if 23 is unusually high credit double reads, if 24 is unusually low, blame your SNAFU.
inanimate object
I only blame myself not the SNAFU, an ugly beast found in the African savannah.
Guess I was lucky
I get up very early every morning and saw that both were posted. 24 was first and 23 later. I checked 24 and it did not sink up so I went to 23 and it made sense. Later that day I checked and only 24 was showing so I had to do some research to get it all together, but thank you for the information.

Look also at Kudos counts
Your Kudos counts for Chap 23 are about half your usual. Most likely about half the readers have missed Chap23. As suggested already, add a note a the beginning of Chap 25. Great story, thank you!
Double reader
I'm also one of those who upon seeing chapter 24 and the note about 23, then went to 23 and after reading that went back to 24 and read that.
It's a really great story, and I love it. Thanks so much for writing it, Leslie.
