I'm a big fan of Korean Drama and maybe I might find some fellow fans of a specific one I'm going to comment upon here. The K-Drama of which I speak is called "One Percent Of Anything", starring Kang Dong Won and Kim Jung Hwa as the main characters. Kang Dong-Won plays Lee Jae In, the head of a hotel in the SH Group and the grandson of the founder. Kim Jung Hwa plays an elementary school teacher named Kim Da Hyung.
Kim Da Hyung stumbles upon the grandfather, the newly retired CEO of SH Group, in disguise and helps him. He decides she will inherit his controlling stocks if she marries him. The idea is that she will truly help cool down his temper.
There's more but that's the jist...well, it has been remade. There are many issues in the new one....a big one includes both sides of the family being completely cut out. They added more substance in the original and were a joy to watch as well.
Another is age...in the original, Kim Jung Hwa actually looks like an adult while the latter she looks like she just made it through college at best. One of her love interests I suspect looks like he just came out of a K-Pop boy band. While I like K-Pop and the boy band's I'm concerned about the age here. The grandfather looks younger as well. Along with this, I suspect that the female lead had plastic surgery. If you ask me why I have a problem with this its because many Korean females have plastic surgery almost as a rite of passage into adulthood, like the eye surgery or a nose job.
I suspect the family cuts may be due to a time or budget constraint or both but it doesn't help the show. Now speaking of the time constraint each episode is a bit over the half hour mark and containing only 16 episodes makes it a little over 8 hours. Comparatively the original was 26 episodes with some being over an hour which made it 26-27 hours.

Anyone else who has seen either "1% Of Anything" or "1% Of Something" want to weigh in?

p.s. I forget to add what I find incredibly ridiculous on this remake...it's only been 13 years since the original came out. Yeah, the original just came out in 2003.

A recommendation.

If you like Korea dramas, I suggest you track down the 2010 Korea drama "Secret Garden". (There are subtitled versions of the series).

The series is 20 episodes long. Each episode is one hour long.

The main plot of the story is a TG bodyswapping, but unlike most series, this serious has two or three plotlines going at once. And the TG is only one plotline. The series is a mix of drama and comedy. All of the plotlines are well thought out. The acting is good. And the cinematography is incredible.

Also, unlike some series, this series takes it time to introduce the characters and build up the story. The bodyswapping does not start until the end of episode five.

Besides the bodyswapping plotline. The other main plotline has little to do with the bodyswapping, the plotline is an incredible love story about an aging singer whom had his heart broken years ago, with the woman whom broke his heart coming back into his life to stir up trouble for him.

And the series does wrap up its plotlines well.

Yeah I was streaming it on there.

But like I said, I took a glance at the remake, skimming through most of the episodes and those absences I mention are a glaring omission.

Part of when I spoke on a budget concern, the remake was not produced by MBC which is one of the big three Korean network channels everyone watches. The other two are SBS and KBS.
I'm very impressed by the content I've seen coming from tvN, like "Shy Boss" and "Let's Eat".
