I don't know from anime (except for a few old movies like AKIRA), but they seem like totally competent renderings of anime characters. And that first pic makes you look like a denizen of the Happiest Place Not Quite on Earth- Pepperland!

Yusuke and Kuwabara

These are the two protagonists, and also the toughest individuals at Sarajashiki Jr. High. Yusuke died saving a kid (who would have escaped completely unharmed) from being ran over, and that one single act of sacrifice allowed him to be brought back to life, where he now is charged with rounding up rogue demons. Kuwabara is his long time rival, and the second toughest punk in school, but really has a heart of gold. Their expressions are of anger out of necessity, for no one can really face down demons on a near daily basis with smiles on their faces, can they? Hiei and Kurama are actually from the demon plane, so they kinda always smirk, and Genkai, being a master of over 7,000 different forms of martial arts, is a tough-as nails master, but really has a soft spot for both Yusuke and Kuwabara, who are her former pupils.
